Low Cost Carrier reference sites

I'm glad there's now a forum for the thrifty. I suggest including in our first sticky these sites for budget/LCC airlines:

http://www.flybudget.com/
http://www.whichbudget.com/?lang=en
http://www.skyscanner.net/
http://www.ch-aviation.ch/lcc.php European only
http://www.low-cost-airline-guide.com/ European only

Great resources for learning who flies cheap regional routes within Europe and Asia.

Reference list for LCC's around the world!!
Thanks to wfb for the great idea!! ^

Since this forum is for budget travelling, here's a list of info that I compiled over the years for low cost carriers, as well as "consolidators" that are based in Europe. This list is accurate, as of today (October 21st 2010) and is by no means completed (and probably never will, as it's a moving target!! ). LCC's comes and goes, so I'll need your help to try to keep this list as useful and up to date as possible. Please PM me if there is LCC's that I have forgot to include in the list and I'll include them in the list. Please also PM me if you find that a website is no longer working, or when an LCC goes under. This post is a live document and will change, as the picture of LCC's will change!

I divided the list into continents, and then into country, when appropriate.

I like http://www.skyscanner.net/ as a comparison tool for European LCC flights.

Regarding openjet.com: I wouldn't book through them since they charge a service fee. Go to the airline's website instead..

Wouldn't be possible to make this thread a sticky with all that great info?!

Great list, Super Larry,

Did you forget (or did I overlook) three LCC's from Canada? Air Transat flies from many cities in Canada to destinations in Canada, the U.S. (limited destinations in the U.S.), and Europe. They book through "Exit.ca"or TA's. Very tight pitch and no FF miles, but low fares.

AT's website is here: http://www.airtransat.ca

Also, HMY Airlines in Canada, and Zoom Airlines (Canada to the U.K.) might be considered, as they have infrequent schedules, but slightly lower fares then the majors.

Sadly no longer with us.

Domesticflights in South Africa:
www.kulula.com

Kulula is operated by Comair, which also operates BA domestic services in SA.

Note that flight numbers with four digits beginning with a 6 (MN6***) are operated by British Airways and also carry BA passengers. Three digit flight numbers are Kulula only.

Are they out of business? Their website is still in operation!

Interesting!

I had assumed this was Volare, which went out of business last year - see http://travel.timesonline.co.uk/arti...709640,00.html (4th paragraph).

Perhaps it's Phoenix-Volare ?

I tried all websites yesterday and you are indeed right about the original volare web site, they are no longer with us. However, I suspect, through my limited italian, that volare might somehow means fly in italian and therefore, another company called itself volareweb (fly web??)

Yup, that could be it, though perhaps a little odd that a new company would want a name so close to a bankrupt airline .
