2016 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you.

UPDATED TO: Post #259

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).

On codeshares, definitely not offered. On Amex travel bookings: rarely and only at OLCI stage. If it's booked via Amex in Brighton on a BA 125 ticket, you may also be able to UuA online or via a Contact Centre if you are not booked in Q, O or G fare buckets and there is normal Avios availability. In both cases you are able to use AUP at the airport though these are rare for shorthaul from LHR.

BCN - LHR ET-> CE for 140 Euros. Did not take it. Interestingly, it appeared as soon as I ticketed the booking, contrary to the information offered here. (Although I did hold the price for 72 hours first).

Presumably as the 24 hour cancellation policy does not apply on held bookings that are subsequently completed. Therefore POUG offered pseudo-instantly.

I regularly buy O fares out of IAD to Europe and have never not been offered a POUG to WTP on my IAD-LHR leg. Each way the POUG is about $225-$256 dollars. My LHR-IAD flight on 1/4/16 was initially offered at $450...then went up to $670! I waited 48 hours and checked again about 2 days before the flight (on an A380), was down to $256, which I took. At Heathrow, was offered WTP ---> CW for £650. This was way more than I wanted to pay, but as I was exhausted from a long trip, I took it (not proud of that choice, but I look at it as my holiday gift to myself).

Yes. Doesn't take much to scare off the POUG fairy, and a non 125 ticket, and/or a travel agency ticket, is just the thing for that. In this situation it is a ticket marketed by Finnair, so it's "not invented here" as far as BA is concerned, they're not responsible for the ticketing or the revenue stream.

I didn't have a POUG offer all last year on BA, have now been offered two since the start of the year, new policy?

BOM-LHR - WTP - CW £400 - didn't take, came down to £390 at airport, still didn't take
LHR-OTP - ET - CE €165 - thinking about it

Welcome to FT, dhh148!

Hopefully you will be back to post about your experiences and POUG offers.

I think I would have been quite tempted with the BOM offer to J.

Do you have status with BA/ow? If not, the lounge access, extra Avios and TPs to help towards status and extra luggage allowance/space and catering may be attractive for a reasonably long European flight.

Please let us know what you decide.

LHR-TXL £129 ('O' WT to CE), 07:05 flight, could do with a bacon roll, but won't be able to start on the Monopole so won't bother!

HAM-LHR - late March - 119EUR. Decent deal?

It would just about get me to bronze, not that I'm pretending bronze is worth a great deal.

Not bad, but not amazing.

Bronze is better than nothing if you have more flying to do.

Just logged into MMB and I have these two offers for a flight next week:

LHR -> MIA - WTP £198 (Feb 2016)
MIA -> LHR - WTP £176 (Feb 2016)

MIA -> LHR was £198 yesterday. I have seat 29A (747) on the way out and seat 25D (A380) on the way back so not sure if it's worth taking.....

Just picked up an outrageously good deal on BGO-LHR :
Original fare was NOK 381 (£30) - used 2,250 avios to take it to NOK 193 (£15)
Offered POUG for NOK 415 (£34)!

£49 for 40 TPs at a net of -600 avios - difficult to argue with that!

I noticed the following paragraph in the POUG T&Cs:

Promotional upgrades are intended for use on occasional basis, and therefore are not offered to customers every time they travel. A variety of factors, including seat availability, ticket type and prior take up of promotional upgrades will affect whether a customer is selected to participate in the promotional upgrade offer.
Do you think prior take up of promotional upgrades makes you more likely or less likely to get offered them in the future?
