OZ 214 ICN-SFO (reg no HL-7742), a 2006 Boeing 777-200ER with P&W PW4090 engines; flew ICN - KIX - ICN immediately prior (not as OZ 214). 291 passengers and 16 crew on board. 3 people dead, 48 seriously injured, 132 less so.
Aircraft landed short on approach (VFR weather, ILS out of service, PAPI working) impacting the seawall delimiting runway 28L with main landing gear and then the tail 11:28 PDT, careering down the runway to a stop and ensuing fire. The empennage and both engines separated from the fuselage, and fire from an oil drip in engine no. 2 burnt a significant part of the upper forward fuselage.
Runway 28L / 10R was closed until 1700 PDT 12 July; all SFO runways are open.

NTSB Chair just discussed important revelations from the Cockpit Voice Recorder, which is apparently possesses a good quality recording of the last 120 minutes of cockpit conversation:
Vref approach: 137 knots
Flaps at 30 degrees, gear down/locked
No discussion of anomalies or concerns in cockpit until a crewmember calls out speed too low 7 seconds before impact
Stick shaker 4 seconds prior to impact
Call for go-around occurs 1.5 seconds before impact
Engines at idle thrust until go-around

Just reported by MSNBC as well. Apparently it was a 777 inbound from ICN. No details on casualties as yet.

The video appears to show the tail section having separated from the aircraft, with the main body of the fuselage intact and not burning. Hopefully there was time to have gotten everyone off safely.

KCBS wrong, it was flight 214 from ICN.
Witness watching from the bayside Embassy Suites told CNN the plane appeared to land as normal, nose up, but on touchdown an unusually sizable puff of smoke emanated from the main gear, then the aircraft went out of control, cartwheeled, and there was a brief fireball. The left engine nacelle appeared to contact the ground, with the left wing separating.
No emergency vehicles awaited on scene so if an emergency was called on approach, it was not with much notice.

KCBS seems to be correcting themselves and the cargo information came from an announcement that Delta made in its lounge. Definitely a passenger plane.
