Does AA still allow within one award transfering through Middle-East?

For example:
1. HEL-LHR-AUH-BOM (62,500 in F)
2. BOM-AUH-KUL (50,000 in F)

JNB-AUH 55,000
AUH-JFK 70,000
Total 125,000

To get it as a single award at 75,000, need to either connect in Europe or connect in Doha with Qatar

What are your travel dates?

EY just announced they are pulling the A380 from MEL at the end of Oct-2017.

Just plain silly that they don't allow this. I did email there director and received a response that they are aware and have been looking into it and will see if anything can be done. Hopefully, not just corporate speak, we will see.

There are 1000's of examples of desirable routings that can't connect in 3rd region. Just part of the program. The addition of the QR exceptions were huge.

Somewhat unrelated topic.
Currently on a cruise and will be flying shortly on EY in J from AUH to LAX. I know about the ban of carry of iPads from this location.
However, a fellow passenger who will be flying QR from DXB has been told that passengers in J will be allowed to have iPads/laptops in carry on luggage on QR.
Don't know if this is a rumor or official.
Has anyone heard of this and more importantly, if this is true will EY allow this as well? I will ask once in AUH but I wonder if anyone has heard anything about this.
TIA

It would seem an obvious security risk. If it's deemed a risk to have these devices in an economy seat, why would it be any less a risk further up the plane ?

I agree with you and that's why I think it's a rumor rather than a fact.
That said, from my reading I understand that the risk involves replacing CD/DVD drives in laptops with an "explosive device". As iPads do not have such drives I am not sure why they are placed in the same risk category as laptops.
Furthermore, as US has taken the trouble to set up immigration and customs pre-clearance at AUH, why can't they set up the same screening process and equipment as is present in US where such "explosive" devices can be detected and therefore iPads/laptops are not banned?

Just flew EY 11 AUH-LHR using AA Miles....2 in First and 3 in downgraded (voluntary) economy all booked back in Sept 2016......check 1-2 times a day (for the most part) from Oct-March then 3 times a day up April 1 to 28th (last two days 10 times a day)...no additional award space open up on this specific flight in business.

Funny Residence showed sold out in EY miles (on EY.com not that we can book it with AA miles) but no one was in it on the flight...

So no business class seats opened up on EY 11 even at departure time....can't always count on them opening. I also hired BookYourAward from Sept to day of departure and they never showed one business class seat open up either.

Compare to CX I had 2 first class seats as read about here open up 36 hours prior to flight.

QR is giving loaner laptops provoded by the company to J passengers. Om guessing someone misunderstood that.

How many miles would LHR-SYD be? I know ex-US prices as two awards but wasnt sure for Europe since Europe is Zone 2 while US is Zone 1.
