Requested status match from DL Gold on 23rd February - checked my account this morning and it was updated to reflect MVP gold. No email from Alaska regarding it, though.
Still waiting for a Korean Air flight in J to post that I took last weekend. I'm hoping that it will post with the MVP Gold status bonus, but I'm guessing it won't since it took them two weeks to match status.

Just got AS status match for UA 1K for a second year and I didn't even request it?! Quite honestly it is a great move by AS as I am getting tired of UA treatment of there "HVC's". When the merger with Virgin is complete I will probably dump UA altogether as the added routes really help me with my business destinations. Flying SFO to SEA just to get to DEN doesn't really work for me.

I had lame duck AA Platinum status with 6k AA EQM (total) YTD when I applied for a match in Nov. I was granted an MVP Gold match (somewhat to my surprise) in about ten days. I also had about 15k AS EQMs at the time (finished the year with just over 20k). YMMV, but I highly doubt they'll parse at the level of whether your AA EQMs we're partner or not. Since AA.com will only show six months of AAdvantage history, AS cant even see how many partner miles you earned if they were early in the year.
I'll be doing the same come October - moving all my flying to Alaska but minimal flying on AA this year, and will probably barely have re-qualified for Gold come October.

My surprise was that I was granted a status match based on lame duck status, not that it was to MVP Gold. In my particular case, a match to MVP status would not have made any sense, since I was never an MVP-equivalent status.

Are they still enforcing matching only status from N. American carriers?

I am curious how status match would work if you match towards the end of the year, is it still only valid until 12/31?

If you get a status match now it's only good till 12/31 of this year (2017).
I got a status match in Dec 2016 so i'm getting 13 months worth of use. Should have done my research earlier

General consensus is to wait till Oct 1st (2017). Then your status match will be good till end of next year (2018)

Shucks, planning to take an AS flight in September transcon, but don't think I'll fly them enough for the rest of the year to qualify for 2018 if I do a status match now. (Though I should be on track to have WN status next year, so will probably suck it up and wait until October to do the match).

Will they deny the match if your YTD miles flown is pathetically low? I almost did not fly this year on the airline I have status with.
