But I should have been clearer. We are booked on TG in J from KUL to ZRH. My concern os that the LCC's will not tag our luggage all the way to ZRH.

So:

SIN - DPS
DPS-KUL(VIA SIN only Star Carrier to KUL via SIN)
& KUL TO ZRH

Even if you do book on a star carrier from DPS to KUL, it is not guaranteed your bags will be checked through. Airlines often don't do this and as you are flying from DPS which is an out station, I would rate your chances of checking your bags through on 2 different tickets even within the same alliance as pretty slim. Although that's just my experience and never tried with the airlines above.

EDIT: I just remembered, there is a thread here with each *A airline policy on checking bags through, can't find it right now but it's somewhere.

I have done it multiple times with SQ so that is the least of my concerns.

I have done it multiple times also with *A with mixed reward ticket and paid tickets. The agent was able to merge both PNR into one and check my bags through. I think this is one of the major strength of *A compare to OW (I think they eliminate this option last year?). Not too sure about ST since I don't fly with them often.

I was quoted €133 pp includes the €20 fee for J class with SQ, or €103 in Y.

Wrong information - merging two PNR in one is not possible. It's only possible to cancel both bookings and build up a new PNR. But check-in agents were unable to to that as not knowledgable how to do that and usually have no access to the PNR as they work with check-in systems...

What they can do is to add on a checked-in flight onward flights, it will be done manually and is not linked to a PNR. So baggage can be checked trough. The check-in system then transfers the baggage tag no to the onward airline. In such a case its always good to double check at the gate, if the baggage tag no is in the system of the onward carrier... And if the check-in system work well toghether, they even can issue bording passes for onward flights at the departure airport.

As you're travelling on seperate tickets, you shouldcount enough time to change planes in KUL. With SQ you're restricted to one of their few daily flughts (3?) and the travel time gets longer as you connect through SIN.

With a LCC DPS-KUL you're as fast as with SQ, even if you count the time to pick-uo baggage, Transfer to KLIA T1 and re check-in your bags... All depends on the schedules of the flights!

It's stll a long way to get from KUL via BKK to ZRH...

Ah I see. Well, my baggage tag shows all the transit airport code, so I assume she merged the PNR. Luckily, I have no issues between *A flights, I assume they have an interline agreement with each other?

I did see some flights from LXA to CTU with J-class, but I was hoping to fly on their A330s.. From CTU-PEK I did not find any J-class availability.

Note, I am only interested in a one-way ticket, so the above cost is halved.
I called Aegean to ask them about pricing of the above flight. However, they don't see any award space availability. On the other hand, if I look on the United website and search for award tickets, there seems to be plenty of availability.. Does anyone know what is going on here? Is it a case of HUACA?

Finally redeemed my first flight from M+B, from HKG-ICN-OKA on OZ, total cost of 12,500 miles + 54,47 Euro as fee with booking fee. I was thinking about redeeming for business class, but I know I won't have time to enjoy it for such a short flight.

The flight did not show up on Aeroplan, surprisingly! Even if it did, it will cost me 20k Aeroplan miles to redeem it Luckily, M+B has 2 seats left and for 12,500 miles ^^

Talking TOKYO-HKG in F

Hi FTers,
I'm A3 member. After my first pleasant reward flight in BR/SQ J in 2015, I'm planning another one this year, hopefully in F.
Having consulted all posts back till 2015, I have in mind some conclusion and idea. Please guide and help me.
Route: Tokyo-HKG, one way in F.
Date: the second half of Aug.
1. Is it true that SQ never release award F seat to other *A partner? so it's impossible to redeem SQ F with A3 miles?
2. The only way to redeem SQ F is using KrisFlyer miles, correct?
3. My idea is to maximize the F experience, I think via BKK is perfect for stop over. So the route becomes Tokyo-BKK-HKG. Should I go for NH F or TG F on this route? It seems NH doesn't fly B777 first to BKK, correct?
4. Indeed TG flys A380 both NRT-BKK and BKK-HKG and I believe TG's A380 F product is quite solid and it's a must try. Also the BKK TG SPA is another good reason to fly TG^.
5. Actually, ExpertFlyer.com shows plenty F seats availability on TG677(NRT-BKK) and TG600(BKK-HKG) for the date I want to travel. Is their information reliable enough? Does it mean the A3 customer service can see those availabilities and its bookable for A3 redeem?
6. I have tried AwardNexus.com too, but they show very few options and all are on NH&UA combination via SIN. What is yr experience with awardnexus? Reliable information?
7. For tax and YQ, I use Matrix Flight search engine. Any other better option for checking tax & YQ?
Any suggestion is more than appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

To your questions:

1. Base on the conversations I had with the A3 agents, I can only book SQ J for intra-Asia and Y for longhaul. F was never available for intra-Asia.
2. No, there are some routes that SQ release to other *A members such as Aeroplan, but very limited. One route I remember was from SIN-DEL on Aeroplan. But with Krisflyer, you are able to redeem F for sure.
3. I don't think backtracking is possible, you can do NRT-HKG-BKK but you won't get your spa in BKK. Again base on my own experience, F space is almost non-existence for intra-Asia flights.
4.^
5.Not always, A3 often gets "starblock". However, there are some flights that A3 are able to see, but not on UA/AP and they tend to be in Y
6.Never use that, I don't know.
7.Check ITA matrix, and add 20 Euro for booking fee. Make sure to select Athens, Greece as the sales location. One exception to this is AC, where YQ is waive for certain flight. You can look it up at the wiki above.

If you really want to try the spa experience, it is better to redeem from BKK instead, you will get your YQ waive.

Just redeemed TSA-HND-KUL on NH for 29.89+20 euros and SIN-TPE for 137.20+20 euros. Flights are in J and in Oct 2017. Agent was very nice and had no problem communicating in English. I had to prompt her for the TSA/TPE airport codes, but otherwise no other issues.

Hello all,

I am looking to get an award ticket and I was wondering if it is possible to get a 90k business award on a MAN-LAX-PIT-MAN route with 7 days in LAX and 5/6 in PIT, or will I need to book a MAN-LAX one-way and a PIT-MAN one way and buy a LAX-PIT ticket?

Also, once I contact A3 about an award ticket, what is the normal turn around time in them getting back to me on availability?

Thank in advance.
