Thanks a lot for all the replies. i have booked LHR-TOKYO via Seoul. 550 euros. please update wiki. Aparently ASIANA J is a very good product.

Something i would like to add, it seems there is a inconsistency among A3 agents. When i called three times the last 2 weeks none could find any availability even when i asked to check more than 6 airports in Europe. The agent today found a lot of availability from all the airports. i thik some A3 agents dont know how to search properly.

According to the above, you should expect to pay around 344.93€, plus a 20€ A3 booking fee.

Maybe the agent quoted taxes and fees for a round-trip? Or with LX/LH through ZRH/MUC/FRA?
thanks for the response - yeah I wonder if that what it is. Will try to call again and highlight that and see what happens.

If I want to fly ZRH-TYO in J, this would be a good routing to minimize YQ right?

ZRH-LH-FRA-NH-HND
NRT-LX-ZRH

ita shows 51.34+1.85EUR outward and 266EUR back, but according to wiki the YQ from NRT is lower?

The total tax+YQ should be around 40 Euros, plus the 20 Euro booking fee. It should be about 60,00 Euro total :

I do not know if I misunderstand the wiki on this topic but last night I wanted to check some awards from MEX SFO LAS within NA region.

Firstly:
1. agents were not able to see availability beyound February. WOW
2. I was quoted around 140 EUR in taxes for this flights.

I though that on UA there are no taxes. Have I had a bad agent?

Not to mention that for a one way MEX MUC flight I was quoted around 370 EUR in taxes. Not even adding up all taxes from ITA Matrix I will get that amount...

Any experiences out there booking UA flights with A3 miles?

The taxes do add up to around 90 EUR. I don't know how far out you are booking, but flights seem to be very cheap so not a good redemption value here.

I am trying to find a use for these miles, wanted to fly to EU but 400EUR are putting a halt on my plans. The flights to LAS, SFO,LAX are indeed cheap.

thanks

But the question comes up, if it is worth to spend 12.5k Miles + EUR20 booking fee for a fare that you could buy for $88?

You can use UA or AC without YQ for TATL flight. One way J is only 45k.^

I am amazed at how helpful the Aegean reservation staff are when it comes to rebooking award travel. After travelling from TXL-FRA-BKK in business on LH/TG, I wanted to return earlier to TXL. The A3 agent negotiated a flight for me at just two days notice after first informing me that there was no availability. There was a routing change (from BKK-MUC-TXL to BKK-FRA-TXL) but the airlines were the same (TG and LH). The rebooking process took 55 minutes during which time the agent kept me fully informed on progress. I paid €20 service charge plus €6.50 extra taxes. This is fantastic service which you can hardly imagine receiving from any other airline. Let us pray that Aegean never considers outsourcing its call centre to India like TK has disastrously done.

I mean it is done and dusted for the OP, but when have you been on LH the last time? The entire long haul fleet has been fully flat in J for a 2 odd years now. The blue angled flat seats are a thing of the past. Of course, even the new seats are 2-2-2 so not as good as NH, OZ or LX, but it is not as bad as you make it out to be.

I agree. One time I almost wasn't able to board my SQ flight to MNL without a return ticket booked. I managed to quickly get a redemption from them within 15 mins.

While TK takes forever to get the combination you wanted. Super hard to settle payment of the reservation. And inefficient use of miles. My TK miles are still intact and almost obsolete.

I agree with you with TK. With their miles you are pretty much limited to TK metals for redemption. I am done with TK M&S when my status expires in September
