Barely made that connection? Re-confirm your Itinerary.
Re-confirm your reservation just to be safe if you've made one of those OJ-Simpson (Avis TV commercial days) hurdling-through-the-airport connections, otherwise the rest of your itinerary might just be cancelled.
The CO gate staff at EWR popped the seal on a 737 heading to ORD to let me on following my harried connection as a result of an MX delay out of my origin.
While glad that I made that flight, upon check-in for my return I was greeted with the information that the rest of my itinerary was cancelled because I was posted as a "no-show" for that EWR-ORD leg that I barely made.
Though the gate agents let me on that tight connection, proper follow through was not made, and apparently my PRS was not processed. Hence, the "no-show" and consequent cancellation of the rest of my itinerary.
I was re-booked easily enough since seats were still available, but I would recommend that anyone just barely making connections to re-confirm their itineraries with reservations in order to avoid complications later on, especially if the next flight(s) in the sequence should sell out in the interim.

Ditto...
I have had this happen to me. I have also been let on an earlier flight (standby) only to find that the gate agents did not adjust things correctly and my return was cancelled as if I were a noshow.
Lesson learned... any last minute moves or changes of itinerary or near misses and reconfirm the remainder of the ticket!

My itinerary was kept "intact," in the sense that it still existed and therefore could be pulled up for re-confirmation.
But the seat reservations were gone, i.e., cancelled.
No seat = no reservation.

I agree like all the others. It happened to me when my very first segment of a looong itinerary FMO-FRA-SFO-HNL-OGG/OGG-SFO-FRA-FMO was cancelled. Obviously the return trip went into the digital nirvana, but since my travel agent, who had diligently worked out this itinerary, checked by accident, she reconfirmed me w/o asking - I'm still grateful

This same thing happened to me twice on the same trip, even after reconfirming w/DL! They claimed they did not have the record of me confirming?!? Thus I guess I had to reconfirm my reconfirmation with DL

Actually, this is the problem that ended my relationship with Continental. It goes back to when they bought out PeopleXpress - they told me that i could not board - the PeopleXpress ticket was not valid. They eventually saw the error of their way (for me and about 150 other passengers), but although they put my wife andme and the plane, they didn't put our luggage on and they cancelled our return. When we landed at Gatwick i went directly to the Continental desk to reconfirm. They said that I couldn't reconfirm because my reservation was cancelled since I never left EWR
Ooops, never flew them again (nor an awful lot of my friends - lots of people never got back on a Continental plane!

Hi,
Part of this has happenned to me. The part that my trip was cancelled. It was on AN, and i flew to Coffs Harbour (CFS) from MEL via SYD. I was going for a 2 week holiday with my family and grandmother.
I rang on the morning of my arrival to AN to reconfirm flights, meals etc (I know iot was a bit late to do this), everything was fine.
I checked in early for my flight and was told my flights had been cancelled as my flights up had been listed as no-shows. I was taken to the next counter to get everything sorted out. Finally as the plane was about to leave, everything was sorted out and my boarding passes had been printed and reprinted a couple of times, so the agent just took my old ones, crossed out the seat number and wrote a new one instead. We made it onboard, seated in a few groups around the plane (the FA wanted to double check they validity of the BP's since seats were changed and new ones were written in pen.)
I think the agent must have fixed up the SYD to MEL leg there because everything was fine for that one.
goodo

Here's another example of a very similar situation -
