Canada-New Delhi routes: Canadian carrier besides CAnada 3000?

Any suggestions as to how to fly from Canada to New Delhi India, via Heathrow, and with only 2 flights (prior to April 1, when United Airlines will be implementing its round the world service).

I would be interested in a similar codeshared arrangement that AC now has with Singapore Airlines, via London to Singapore.

I was disappointed that Canada 3000 got the Canadian rights to fly to New Delhi. Does that mean that no other Canadian carrier can also operate on this route? What happened to Air Canada's flights in the not so distant past from Toronto to London to New Delhi? At one time, AC was flying all the way (ie eventually UA took over from London to New Delhi, and then it stopped flying the route). Does not AC still have the rights to the Canada to New Delhi route?

AC still has the rights to New Delhi - however they are not interested in flying the route. It was:
- not meeting their desired level of profitability
- early morning fog in New Delhi often caused extensive (6hr) delays - highly inconveniencing passengers who were flying just LHR-YYZ or LHR-YVR and waiting for the inbound aircraft.

There are three cheap Star Alliance ways to get to New Delhi.

Lufthansa - Toronto-Frankfurt-Delhi
(around CAD$1800 from consolidators)
AC/Austrian combo - Toronto-Vienna-Delhi
(around CAD$1600 from consolidators. Note: Toronto-Vienna is on AC, and Vienna-Delhi on Austrian)
AC/Thai combo
Route 1: Toronto-London (AC) then London-Bangkok-Delhi (Thai)
Route 2: Toronto-LA (AC), LA-Bangkok-Delhi (Thai)
Both routes cost around CAD$1600. Note Route 2 yields around 25K Q miles roundtrip.
Also note, the Lufthansa option yields the fewest Aeroplan points as only 1/2 points for the Frankfurt-Delhi sector in coach.

Of course, the new option is now Canada to London/Copenhagen on AC, followed by Singapore Airlines to Singapore and then on to New Delhi; conversely, (to) Vancouver to Singapore and on to New Delhi via Singapore Airlines; I suspect that both of these options will be more expensive, than your options, even by going through a consolidator.

actually via CPH you would use SK between CPH and DEL. They have a daily 767 flight.

The best routing is probably the AC/LH combo. although the AC/SK flight is not bad either. if you credit the LH FRA - DEL segment to LH M&M or SQ KrisFlyer you will get 100% of the base miles.

To the best of my knowledge, SAS and Singapore are not selling consolidator fares out of YYZ. They both do sell consolidated fares out of SEA, YVR, JFK, LHR. Also SAS has decent student/youth fares to India directly from the airline.
