Excellence in Service from Lounge Agent

My generally good experience with AC's staff was topped yet again by an excellent experience.

On Thursday, I had left my sweater in the MLL in YYC. It was too late once I was on the plane to go all the way back to the lounge so I left a note with the gate agent that I would pick it up on the way back.

They couldn't find it when I came back through but promised to call when it did show up.

The Airport agent phoned last night and said she will deliver it TO MY HOME today.

I say this is way beyond the call of duty but was most appreciated.

I too am continually impressed with AC gate agents. My experiences have mostly been in Atlanta, USA. Gate D11 is opposite the Continental Airlines gate and the dichotomy between the two is amazing. Everything from announcement style to tone of voice gives the impression that the Continental staff wish that the passengers would go away, while the Air Canada staff continually keep passengers and even those people waiting to greet passengers updated. AC staff in Atlanta are quick, efficient and very genuine. I have gotten to know a few of them and I can honestly say that they enjoy their jobs. This may have something to do with the type of clientele this route serves more than anything else.

Air Canada's economy inflight service is pretty good too. C class is fine but on North American flights of a couple of hours - Y is fine!

Just got my sweater and the agent was surprised that I was SE (ie she did not know). As demonstrated, she would have done it for anyone, regardless of status--now that's dedication and service!

How did they know your address if they didn't know your aeroplan details?

BB said he got a call so most likely he gave the address to him/her over the phone.

I actually left my business card at the lounge (has my home details) plus she phoned to let me know she was coming . . . and yes she received a service excellence coupon (and maybe a treat yet to come).

Just to add a story to this thread, last Sunday I was seeing my wife off on a flight to Edmonton. We were in the Winnipeg MLL when Sally realised she had left her pain killers at home (she had a bad back), the agent on the desk overheard our conversation and offered some of her own pills (she buys them from the states) that were especially for back pain. Thats customer services, over and above the normal.

Still looking on the bright side of life!!!
