Talking 30th B-day Trip Round the World This Sept! (anyone wanna join?)

I'm new to FlyerTalk and I really want to make some travel buddies. I'm a Star Alliance Traveler (United) and I'm trying to plan a solo backpacking trip around the world Sept. 2 - 17. I'm starting from, hopefully, NYC and aiming for stops like London, Ireland, Portugal, Tokyo, Bangkok, Australia. I might even just stick with Asia only depending on how expensive things get. I want to book my ticket asap though.

If you've visited any of the places above and have any advice, please share. I would love to meet up with any other solo female travelers along the way whether it's simply exploring together or couch surfing.

Thanks and travel on girls!

Ashton

Welcome to FlyerTalk!

I'm not sure if this belongs in the Women Travelers forum--I presume you are asking for advice on traveling in general, as there are no female-specific questions that I can see.

Seriously, are you trying to do a RTW trip in all those places in 15 days? Sounds like a nightmare if you ask me--you'll be spending half of your time on planes and in airports, and you'll be jet-lagged the entire time. (Of course, this is FlyerTalk, so maybe that's your idea of a good time.) If you actually want to enjoy your birthday trip, why not stick to one or two destinations?

Welcome to FlyerTalk. I think you should divide your query into two separate ones: 1) meeting up with solo female travelers (which can remain here) and 2) soliciting advice about destinations, which I'd suggest you post in the TravelBuzz forum (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/travelbuzz-176/).

I know it's not the optimal amount of time but jet lag doesn't hit me too hard and 2 weeks is all I have off from work. Obviously, I'm not hitting up all the places I listed. I would move this post but I can't delete it.

No need to delete it - you can start a new thread in TravelBuzz if you're looking for more feedback about your itinerary/destinations.

That time of year, you're going to run into monsoon season in many parts of Asia, and it will be very early spring in Australia ... but Europe should be beautiful that time of year.

I'd either A) Stick to Europe, or B) put off the trip for a few months until you're into dryer/warmer weather in Asia/Australia

Hi Ashton, have you already been to Europe?
I'm slightly younger than you, and have always wanted to visit Europe before I turn 30.

Any of you ladies going to western Europe in Feb/Mar/May 2014?
