How to book a specific fare with WestJet?
One thing that I really hate about booking with WestJet is that it's difficult to know which fare I'm getting. Unlike with AC or UA, I know what the fare code is. Short of booking with a travel agent (know of any good one on FT?), what's the best way to book a specific fare class with WestJet?
Thx!

This is a huge pain with the booking system. I don’t believe there is a way to do it on your own I just know this :
EconoFlex (Y, B, M)
Econo (H, Q, N, S, X, T, K, L)
Basic (E),
Member Exclusive (V)

I don't know if it's possible. Every other airline that I fly with makes it easy to know which fare class I'm buying. They don't do what WS does and I feel like I'm playing the Russian roulette. So annoying!

I'm bumping this thread because I took your advice. The rep helped me book the exact fare class that I'm looking for. However, the receipt doesn't show the fare class. I'm left with no choice, but to take her word for it that she specifically booked the fare class that I wanted. She repeated her assurance to me like 2-3 times. Seems like a big risk just to take someone's word and have nothing in writing. I really hate how WestJet does things! Is there another way to verify that I got the fare class that I wanted?

It seems that almost all Economy fares booked directly through WestJet are L these days.
That said, they're still the fare type you purchased. The best way to check you have an EconoFlex is to go to seat selection - on the summary page it should list your fare type. You should also get free standard seat selection if it's EconoFlex.
I'm yet to travel on an L EconoFlex fare, so I'm curious if someone can confirm that the free status upgrade still comes through on these fares.
I assume this is WestJet moving towards continuously dynamic pricing, where traditional fare buckets become less important.
