YYZ-YEG-YYZ was $89 + tax CAD each way this week.

LAS-YYZ was $107.50 + tax USD last week.

On an important side note: If you buy a plus upgrade for a flight, then choose to change to a different (earlier) flight on the same day, according the the Gold Support representative, you do not get a plus seat on the new flight, and you lose out on getting a refund for your already purchased plus upgrade. They did an exception for me and refunded my plus upgrade on my original flight, but when checking in online, I had to buy the plus upgrade again for the new (earlier) flight.

LGW - YYC = 200 GBP. Not worth it.
So for additional $200 on the YYC-LGW flight (Boeing 767) you got:
  • Advance boarding
  • Roomier recliner seat
  • Airplane hot meal and booze
Was it worth it ? Would it be worth it if you already had lounge access through Amex Platinum and Priority Pass ?

Kinda but only vs. a regular economy seat. I was getting a seat for row 18 for free which I'd say is comparable. And I do have lounge access with Diners Club.

Upgrade out of the UK to Canada is much more expensive due to the additional UK departure tax of £78 added for non-economy (lowest class) seats.

Yes, which means if westjet wants to sell the seats they need to drop the price they are charging to account for the departure tax.

it is better to not fill the seat than to sell below the economic cost of providing the service with free food and drink and setting an expectation of low cost upgrades being available when a reasonable profit isn’t made on the upgrade, $60 taken for a TATL upgrade ($140 of the $200 going towards the departure tax) is not economically viable.

To me, not having a neighbor and being able to spread out and do work, makes it completely worth it. I usually don't even drink, and don't particularly like the food so often eat before.

but on 766 Plus seats, there is a neighbor adjacent to you as it's a 2x2x2 configuration

Toronto to Miami upgrade 24 hr

Travelling to Miami in November for 25th anniversary cruise. Going Economy, return PLUS. What are the chances of a PLUS upgrade at 24 hours Toronto to Miami and any idea of the cost? 7:30 am flight. I have not paid for seat selection at this point as I understand it's not refundable. Thanks for any info.

Aug 6 AM YYZ » YVR was $150+ -- Skipped it as I was able to get the second exit row with an empty middle seat at OLCI for zero cost. Plus I was going to work (in the morning) so not even the opportunity for a tipple.
Aug 11 5pm YVR » YYZ was $120+ -- Took it as the second exit row was full at OLCI, and well, it was a long week of work and could use the wind-down.

Was able to get plus seating for 0$ on my connectors up to YXS which was a nice plus.

YVR-LAX was $100 CAD plus tax yesterday. Gladly paid it and enjoyed the flight.

YHZ-YYZ Sept 30th - $39

YYZ-FLL Sept 30th - $109

i took the yhz-yyz offer but for the YYZ-FLL row 14 was open which was showing as an emergency row so I picked that instead for myself, partner and my mom.
