Also, $139 for Premium to Business.
Hmm, I paid $299 for YYC - YYZ for the upgrade to Business. It might be variable pricing based on loads?

Was that Econo to Business? Or Premium to Business?

Wow.
YYC to YHM $119 upgrade to Premium in 3x3. No way. Barely worth it "long ago" under $100.

YYZ - LGA $29 (CAD)

LGA-YYZ $52.50 (USD)

That's quite the difference (percentage wise)

Interesting data point in this blogger's review of WestJet YYC to LGW (actually multiple reviews: DEN to YYC, YYC Aspire Lounge, YYC to LGW). The blogger is Ben Schlappig from the "One Mile at a Time" blog.

Here's the quote from his review ... he's talking about upgrades offered at the gate at YYC, for the 787 departing to LGW.

In the gate area they were announcing upgrade offers — they were offering upgrades to premium economy for 649CAD, and to business class for 1,199CAD.

Those prices seem really steep for last minute upgrades. Usually if you’re going to promote upgrades it’s going to be with a special offer, though those are high prices. I would have expected upgrade costs to maybe be half of that.
I agree. Those are pretty freaking steep prices for an ultra-last minute upgrade offer in the boarding lounge.

Friend of mine just headed back to UK on AC YVR-LHW. He was booked in premium and the upgrade offer from AC (at OLCI) was $1,200 from premium to J.

I guess that makes $1,200 to go from Y to “Business” on WS a bargain!

YQR-YYZ was $99. Though I am gold, I could not process the upgrade at the 48-hour window as the flight was booked via Condor (connecting onto a Condor flight...). Still, it worked fine at OLCI.

I believe it needs to be requested over the phone by calling the Gold Support line.

I believe that option is only available if it’s a WestJet ticket ... not if the segment is booked as a codeshare on another airline’s ticket stock (as appears to be the case here).

Typically, airlines can’t touch or modify another airline’s reservation until within the 24 hr check-in window.

This is correct. I was puzzled because they let me put in a bid upgrade (not accepted), but in any case I was only able to process an upgrade at the 24 hour mark.

IAH-YYC for $88 plus tax = $99 US, or about $130 CAD. Older style 3x3 seating with a blocked middle seat, and the food was nothing special (cold sandwich), but not too bad for the price.
