What? The truck crossing lineup was all the way to the Campbell River (the creek, not the town) gas station? Haven't been in there to know if there's restroom or not. I was thinking that one could walk to the Canada customs hall in a pinch (can't be more than a few hundred metres away?)

It is driving me nuts. They must have a $100 Million advertising budget, the commercials are non-stop.

I know the gas station you're talking about. No, we were furlongs and furlongs from there. 1/1/02 was 3 months after Sept. 11 and everybody was crazed about security. At least I presume that was the trouble. A lot of holiday week ski traffic heading home too.

We did that border crossing (not the Peace Arch one...the other one) into WA on a Sat morning last October. Took us 1 hr 20 mins. The sign indicated 50 min wait so they are not exactly accurate.

Yesterday (Saturday 11a) Peace Arch Crossing (entering the US)- noted 50 minutes. Actual 40 minutes.

Thanks for sharing. Really thought the wait would be short w/ lower CAD and end of holiday season.
Guess we really do need to be at the border by 9a to be on the leading edge of the line up. Was hoping to sleep in a little but hate lineups more than I like sleep . . .

I'll post a review of the resort and the Boeing tour here next week for anyone who is interested.

Looks like you might run by my family who are going down Friday and coming back up Saturday.

Despite the low CAD, there are items being sold there that make it worthwhile even with the low conversion. I'm pricing out a certain style of kitchen sink (for a rental suite, no less!) and the best price I can get it for up here is CAD 570. A sink of similar design and quality in the U.S. is available for USD 250.

Quick review of Tulalip, drive from YVR

hey,

Just to close with a quick review. Thanks to all for input along the way.

got to border @ 930a on Sat morning. 40 minute wait. Kind of sucked actually. Not sure why all lanes were not open?
Duty free store was really nice. Definitely recommend picking up your booze there if you plan on having a few pops.

Tulalip Resort - Nice rooms. amazing 3 headed shower. only 8 channels (plus like 4 CSPAN etc)! Didn't go there to watch TV but I expect to get at least ESPN / CNN etc if I want to catch some highlights. Overall, a very solid resort. Casino was nice but smokey. Good variety of card games but the slots seemed really lame? I stuck to cards.

SEA Premium Outlet - Walking distance to Tulalip. Standard fare. Some solid deals but didnt want to buy too much as we were not out of CAN for 48 hours. Recommend getting the usual discount booklet.

Boeing tour - Solid. I wrote a quick review in the link YVR Cockroach provided above. Nice new AC 773ER displayed outside. Soon to be delivered.

Border crossing back to Canada - Got there Sunday @ 5p and wait was only 10 minutes which was a bonus! Was expecting longer.

Washington State drivers are funny. There is a sign stating something along the lines of 'Driving in left lane except when passing is illegal' yet I've never seen so many people driving 65 in the left lane. I'm not a speed demon. Cruise was on at 10 MPH over limit and I was passing countless cars in the right lane. Interesting? In PHX, Miami I feel like I'm standing still on the road at 10 MPH + . . .
