DEN Free Wifi
Denver has made their terminal WIFI free for all. Initial reports are that it was quite slow, hopefully they will improve the connection speed as more people use it. The article below quotes a 10x increase in the number of users versus paid wi-fi.

I was through a couple of weeks ago and although I could connect to the hotspot I could not get to the internet. I have and ATT wifi account and it seems that option is gone so hopefully the connection will get better.

To connect to the free Wi-Fi, users simply find the connection, accept a user agreement and scroll through a few pages of advertisements to access the Internet.

Just as an FYI, neither Las Vegas, NOR Phoenix, NOR Albuquerque, nor ANY of the other free wifi spots I've seen in ANY airport around the country forces you to go through pages of ads. That's a crock.

DenverBrian, you are correct but I think that the ad's will be the way of the future. I noticed on my ATT wifi account they had an offer for a free one time code if you took a survey and it seemed most of the survey was about what content you would look at for free and if you would be willing to deal with ad's for free limited internet.
Now, I would gladly look at a few ad's at MCI if they could just make their "free" internet worth using.

Using it right now from Concourse B. It's definately a bit pokey, feels something like a 56k modem connection.
Ads:
One full-page redirect ad on initial connect, the "continue to connection" button appears and brings up the "agree to terms" page.
In-page ads - the system redirects your page into a frame with an ad approx. 150px tall on the top of the page, but only about 50% of the time. the rest of the time your site appears full screen. Takes up a bit of real estate but it's not terrible.
Overall annoyance factor - pretty low.

I'm on the free wifi at DEN right now
Most abysmally slow service in the world. Far worse than dial up.
I would die to get the $7.99 service back.
This is ridiculous.

Update as I type on the DIA free lowfi: I had to blow out my OpenDNS settings and allow the hotspot to assign DNS settings automatically - something I just thought up, because this lowfi network provides no phone numbers and no tech support of any kind.
Luckily, I'm now poking along at however many kpbs this kleenex-and-spit network provides.
Has anyone stumbled across a phone number to call regarding login issues?
In doing a Google search, it does appear that the airport is crowing about the "amazing lack of complaints." Of course, if you provide no method to communicate complaints, then I guess everything's peachy, eh?
