Central Terminal Expansion Design
Not much from Fentress Bradburn--known for their sails at DIA. But here's one good conceptual design. It reintroduces the view of the airfield from the main terminal (without people having to go through security):

The Central Terminal Project will be a great improvement - especially to the variety of retail and restaurants, however, as it is presently designed there will be a central security checkpoint (replacing the "B" and "C" checkpoints) that (ticketed) passengers will need to clear before having access to this area. Once past security passengers will have access to all concourses without having to clear security again.
Of course the design is pre-9/11 where it was possible for meeters/wellwishers to accompany passengers through security - that is no longer possible; thus meeters/wellwishers will have no access to the shops, retaurants, and airfield views!
There are options being explored to overcome this obstacle - there is still time since the Central Terminal will not open until 1Q 2005.
