Lodging recommendations for the Tetons?

I know this is a Yellowstone thread and not a Grand Teton thread, but seeing as how there isn't one for the latter, I thought I'd just post here.

Does anyone have any lodging recommendations for the Tetons? We'd like to stay 4-5 days - we are big hikers - but all the lodges in the park are so expensive, like way more expensive than NPS concessionaire lodges in other popular parks like Yosemite and Grand Canyon! The town of Jackson is like a 45 minute drive each way which I'd rather avoid if we could and the hotels there are expensive too! And it seems vacation rentals have a minimum 30 day stay, though I am not totally sure about that.

Any suggestions? I have points with every chain but that means staying in Jackson I think. Would rather stay closer if we could.

Downtown Jackson is only about a 20 minute drive from Jenny Lake and much of the rest of the southern side of Grand Teton. Yes, staying there is expensive, but that's because it's extremely popular and a valley where they have little room to build anything new. I used points to stay at the SpringHill Suites in Jackson a couple of years ago and it was a standard, good SpringHill Suites.

Thanks, Google Maps shows about 35 mins from Jackson to Jenny Lake and I imagine traffic is worse in the summers making it longer.

I was thinking about the Springhill Suites but was just wondering if there are potentially lesser known places in Moose or elsewhere that might be closer that people can recommend.

Colter bay is usually the most reasonably priced option and cheaper than many Jackson Hole properties.. overall the area is crazy overpriced both cash or pointwise and may be a good fit for RV travel..

Yeah, that does seem to be the case. Colter Bay comes out to about $250/nt which is about what I could do in Jackson probably, maybe a bit cheaper through points. I guess still a 35 min drive to Jenny Lake and most of the hikes we want to do, but at least in the park.

Maybe we will do 2 days at Colter Bay and 5 days in Jackson/Moose using a Marriott Cat 6 package or something like that.
