Sequim -
Had hoped to spend one night at Lake Crescent Lodge - but desired cottage
is not available.....
Want to head out early on the Port Angeles ferry - so have been looking at Sequim and Port Angeles - neither appear particularly outstanding. About the best selections appear to be the Olympic Lodge in Port A or the HInn Express in Sequim.
Is there an area I am missing? Port Townsend perhaps?
Any recommendations for these areas is greatly appreciated.
TIA...

Are you just looking for a one night gig before taking the boat across to VI? If so I would bite the bullet and stay in Port Angeles.....
You're right, neither of them are outstanding tourists meccas. But the scenery is nice!

I've stayed at the BW Olympic Lodge in Port Angeles a few years ago for 3 nights & found it a good base to explore the area. They had a lot of guests who were using the ferry staying there. The good points are that it's a very comfortable hotel with. on a clear day, great views of the Olympic Park & over the bay to Victoria. The bad points are that it's slightly out of town off the highway with limited options for places to eat if you don't want to drive into town.
They have an excellent breakfast buffet which cost us about $5 each.

Thanks to you both. This is exactly the information I was looking for; and Tanya 934, that is the hotel I had pretty much decided on. If needed, driving into town for dinner will be no big deal - but we really aren't that picky.
My only concern was that I kept reading about "bad" areas, "homeless" - etc. Of course, we also read that the hotel buffet was "expensive" ....
We are not safety nuts either - but just wanted to doublecheck with those who would know. And to be honest, I keep hoping that the cottage at Lake Crescent will open up!
thanks again!
