Enough time at BNE?

Hi all! I'm looking to book CNS->BNE->LAX, however, on the day I'm looking at there's no VA flight early enough from CNS to make the departure from BNE at 1115. However there's a jetstar flight that morning (0600-0810) and a qantas (0655-0855). Do either of those options give me enough time to transit at BNE? We've never been to Australia before, so any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

3h5m is plenty of time for domestic to international at BNE, even on separate tickets. 2h20 on separate tickets is pushing it.

You'll have to get off the plane, collect your luggage (shouldn't be that slow compared to the US) then make your way across to the other terminal to check in for your VA flight -- not very far but not walkable. On separate tickets I think you'll have to shell out five bucks for the bus.

Of course the usual separate-ticket caveats about what happens if your first flight is delayed will apply. Catching a 6am flight is never fun, have you considered flying out the previous evening and spending the night in Brisbane?

Would definitely recommend an overnight stop in Brisbane - much less likely for something to go wrong, plus you'd avoid needing to do an early morning departure out of CNS.

VA770 connects to VA7 with a 3h15m transit, is that full on the day you're looking at?

Doesn't VA7 depart at 1015 not 1115? Or have the times been changed?

I've found early morning flights in Brisbane are often delayed as theres only one runway in Brisbane and there's just too much air traffic around that 8am mark for everyone to land at the scheduled times.

I would be looking at flying down the night beforehand as well.

If you took VA770 (CNS 0545 BNE 0730) then you will need to check in at 0445 (Virgin has a 60 min check in cut off for domestic connecting to international flights), which means getting up at least 0345 if not earlier.
