We may be close to VX Elevate details...

Finally! I think we may be at the point of getting some information about the Elevate system. Today I noticed for the first time that I actually have my flights listed with a point value conversion. This leads me to believe that details are close at hand. It is the first time I have seen more than just a listing of past flights with no converson

Of course, until we know what the conversion is, or whether there will be any loyalty tiers, there is still little to go on. But it is a start!

Here is what my account shows and the conversions at 5 points per dollar. No bonuses however it seems.

yay! I have a points history too now ^ Looks like I'll get a chance to add to it next month... just wish VX flew to Canada, I think I might have to bus between SEA-YVR.

Looks like you fly quite a bit of first?

or Amtrack, or fly, or drive to SEA.

Hopefully we'll know all about VX soon.

I don't remember seeing this before-- from their FAQs section. Interesting, it implies that award travel will also be based on ticket price.

How many eleVAte Points do I need for a free roundtrip?

Answer
Free roundtrip tickets will be available initially for as little as 4,900 Points. We won't have complicated award charts - we will show you a "price" for every flight in points as well as a price in dollars. You may need more points on the most popular flights, but we'll be as quick to offer values on our awards as we will our fares. Where you see low fares, you'll be likely to find an award for fewer Points too.

It's been there. I started a thread about it a month ago.

The fact that the price in points for an award ticket will be based on the revenue price for the itinerary is a bit disappointing. While they may say there are no blackout dates or capacity controls, it's really not that different from "standard" awards on most other airlines (not Delta, of course).

I also don't remember seeing this:

Will my eleVAte Points expire?

Answer

Yes, eleVAte Points will expire 18 months after the month that you earn them. But we plan to give you so many cool ways to use them that you won’t want to let your Points sit around for 18 months.

Similar to TrueBlue, and IMHO, unfortunate. I was hoping it would be like the legacies where points expire XX months after inactivity.

Wow! No option to keep points alive by continuing to earn/redeem would be a deal killer for me.

Let's just hope this airline we all seem to like doesn't expire in 18 months.

Yeah that is kinda nasty. I don't even like UA's 18 months of inactivity rule.

I guess they are selling an experience instead of a FF program... it'd be good to have both though.

That is very bad news, indeed. Especially if they don't have a way to use them for upgrades, as has been hinted. Hopefully you'll at least be able to use them for first class seats on award flights. Otherwise, I can't imagine a use for them very often for me. I guess if they are transferrable to some other program it might be okay.

I want to add:

I've still been flying AS SEA-SFO/SJC (and will still be doing so for another couple of weeks). I always talk to the person sitting next to me about whether or not they will be switching like I am. Most everyone has said that they are trapped with AS because of the frequent flyer program.

If VX doesn't offer something compelling for FF, I fear that it will be tough to get these people to switch. For me, the amenities are worth it, but for most people on short hauls, it's not.

I don't think they can beat AS with fares and frequency...

If it is modeled on the VS program, you'll be able to use a combination of points and cash. But I haven't seen that written anywhere.

As long as you can do it for First Class, that's good. So far, they seem to be ignoring First Class passengers in all of their promotions, etc.

I'm flying LAS-SFO in June and I see three A319's listed with a 1.... Hopefully it will be outfitted by then or I'll get lucky!

Why is that disappointing? VX has always said the points cost will vary along with fare. It was obvious right from the start that they are using the DJ (Virgin Blue) Velocity Rewards model.

When fares are low (and in sales) you can get really cheap awards. For that last minute purchase the awards cost a lot more (not just double).
