Elevate in 2017

I'm booking some flights for next year and trying to decide what makes sense given the uncertainty around the VX/AS merger.

Given my status points rollover for 2017, I only need one flight to qualify for status again. However, it seems unlikely that the Elevate program (and the existing credit card) will continue through the end of next year. So my gut is I should be burning points right now, not trying to earn status. What are other folks doing?

BOS-based VX Gold here...Sitting on points and not sure what to do with them. Already made the switch to JetBlue, which, between having more flights & Mint, makes me not want to fly VX at all. AS is of no use to me, so not worried about status for 2018...Maybe one final trip in F on points just for nostalgia?

For somebody based in Boston, yes AS makes no sense at all. With the introduction of Mint to Boston with more routes to be added soon and a cabin refresh coming in 2017, B6 is the way to go.

IMHO, AS is still the best domestic program, especially after all the devaulations by other domestic carriers. I'm based on the East Coast so I don't fly AS very much (I do fly VX for transcontinental flights), but I'd still credit miles to AS (or VX) for use on their partners.
