Hey guys,

I'm a new Elevate member so please don't flame me if this question sounds stupid.

I flew and collected about 8000 elevate status points on Virgin America last year (2012) and my last flight was on 12/28 from FLL to SFO.

I was under the impression that elevate status points don't expire so long as you keep making regular flights on the airline. As of today however when I checked my account there were 0 elevate status points and still about 11,000 available points. I'm not sure what happened.

The status points shouldnt have been cancelled since my last flight was just a few weeks ago.

What do you guys suggest? Are the points only accumulated per calendar year and now that we are in 2013 I have to start all over again?

According to their online member guide, in the section "Membership Qualification Year":

"Elevate Members must earn sufficient status Points within the Membership Qualification year to achieve or retain Elevate Silver or Elevate Gold Status.
The Elevate Status qualification year is based on a calendar year and runs from January 1 to December 31 each year."

The points you can use to book flights don't expire with any activity that adds to your available points balance (these expire after 18 months with inactivity), but you have to earn and retain enough tier status points every calendar year.

just read their guide, looks like once you reach silver gold its valid for calendar year + 1 more year.

Too bad I took an earlier trip to LHR in J class on BA instead of VS. I might have been able to make silver this year. Oh well, gotta start all over next year again.
