I believe that you would eligible for an urgent travel appointment within 5 days of your DOT. So, if you date of travel is 6/15, you could make an appointment. Please feel free to check it out on the official website though.

Do you have any updates? Hopefully, your application is "In Process" now. : )

We had a good experience. Passports arrived today, 2 weeks to the day from mailing them (expedited).
May 28 Application submitted by priority mail June 3 - received by State Department June 4 - $239.53 x 2 fee redeemed June 10 - passport approved and being printed June 10 - passport sent by express mail June 11 - delivered |
Two weeks is impressive. Assuming this was for renewal, yes? Do you know what center processed it? My renewal w regular service to Philadelphia [edited by Moderator] took 38 days while ExpatExp's expedited renewal also to Philly took only 17 days.

A new (though limited) option for those looking at renewing passports:
https://travel.state.gov/content/tra...ew-online.html |
Just received my new (renewed) passport. Standard processing.
May 25 - Mailed old passport and application. Regular first class mail. May 31 - Check cleared. June 10 - New passport mailed. June 12 - Received new passport. 18 days start to finish. |
I'd like to hear from people who use the online application site. Opens at 9am PT every day, but there are limited spots;
http://https://mytravel.state.gov/s/...ssport-renewal Existing passport gets cancelled when you apply, and you don't send your old passport in. I'm curious if that affects Global Entry - no passport is required to enter, but I'm sure a cancelled passport is in their system. Anyone care to speculate? Can I re-enter with GE if I have a cancelled passport? |

You need a valid passport to travel. If by doing an online application, your current passport is cancelled, don’t think you’d be able to enter/leave the country. Or your destination/departure point for that matter.

I forgot to mention I have 2 other passports that I could use to enter other countries. I only need a US passport to reenter the US

Well if it is your US passport that is linked to your Global Entry and it has been cancelled, and you are trying to use that passport to enter the US, then you’ll have issues.
While a passport is not required to be shown at entry using GE, a valid passport is a primary requirement to utilize the benefit of the program. If your passport expires or is cancelled, your TTP membership will remain active but you will not be able to use the TTP program to expedite entry until your TTP profile is updated with your new valid passport information. Also, in 2023 the CBP ended its temporary COVID-era official policy that allowed US citizens to a) travel to and b) enter the US on expired US passports that it implemented in response to the processing backlog resulting from COVID. An expired passport is no longer acceptable to travel to the US. Therefore, if you are able to present yourself to an admissions officer at a US port of entry while possessing an expired US passport, then under most circumstances you should be allowed to enter the US after extensive secondary inspection in which CBP will verify your identity and citizenship and eligibility for admission. So, if you know you must travel from and return to the US before receiving your new US passport, and you can travel to your destination and return to the US using your other passport(s), then renewing online so as to have your expired/canceled US passport in your possession at the US port of entry, is a pretty good plan. Just be sure to allow LOTS of time in your schedule for delays at the port of entry while your admission is processed. |

Very true, but the issues should not be a showstopper in terms of entering the US.

And maybe it is just me, but if there is an urgent/critical need to travel then I would try to go through one of the expiated options and get the passport before the travel starts. |
How long does the online application take? If they cancel your old passport, it better come quickly.

If you are traveling internationally in less than 8 weeks, you cannot renew online because we are only offering routine service.
Need your passport in less than 3 weeks? Make an appointment to renew in person at a passport agency or center. |
