10/27/23 - Passport approved (could have been sooner as first time I checked). 11/01/23 - Projected delivery date and actual arrival date. Still waiting on the passport card and docs. This has to be some kind of record for us - my last "expedited" app took 2+ months . |
Turned in emergency passport with application at the Tokyo embassy on 9/28. Passport received by mail here in Tokyo on 10/28. Expedite not possible from abroad.

I just got my passport and passport card. I had the appointment at the Vancouver consulate on October 8. I received the passport and card on Nov 1. Not too bad.

Surprisingly Fast Regular Service
Tuesday, October 17: Application for passport book only (not renewing the card since I have NEXUS now) mailed via Priority Mail from Seattle to Philadelphia, delivered on Thursday, October 19.
Monday, October 23: Application received by locator 75. Tuesday, October 24: Check electronically presented (as an artifact of how ACH works, this is going to be the next business day after the check was received) Monday, November 6: Passport book shipped. USPS received it on Tuesday, November 7 and delivery is scheduled on Thursday, November 9 by Priority Mail. Wednesday, November 8: Supporting documentation mailed. Two weeks for regular service without future travel plans. That was surprisingly fast, even faster than when I received my first adult passport in 2014. |
We also received service 2 weeks - regular service, no travel plans.
I was surprised that our old passports, with the hole punched in them, were not returned as they have always been. Is this a change, or will they come under seperate cover? |
Several years ago, I received my expired passport separately.
