I still think you are better off flying FLL-YYZ-YVR on fully flat AC seats. You will have to buy a separate YVR-ANC ticket though, but YVR-ANC is shorter than from LAX.

Depending on the time of year CO can offer a 752 from Florida to Houston and then on to ANC. Sometimes it is a 753 or a 738/9 so not always, but sometimes it can be done. That said, I haven't looked at this summer's schedule to see if the 752 is on the ANC route again this year.

ETA: Never mind; CO is using the 753 mostly this summer.

I've flown a lot of places. How are you destroying your back? Do you have scoliosis or something? Should you be that worried, break up the flight and overnight somewhere like Seattle, so the flights are shorter.

I would agree, but the scheduling is a very tight, particularly if you're meeting a ship -

AC901 dep FLL 18:30 arr YYZ 21:40 A330
http://www.aircanada.com/shared/en/c...fleetA330.html

AC033 dep yyz 20:15 arr YVR 22:05 777
http://www.aircanada.com/shared/en/c..._fleet77L.html
(This is likely an impossible connection)

More likely, overnight at the YYZ Sheraton (great beds!) and connect to -

AC153 dep YVR 08:00 arr YVR 09:58 767
http://www.aircanada.com/shared/en/c...7-300erxm.html

(May not have lay-flats. Best ask which one does on the air canada forum.)

AC538 dep YVR 11:00 arr ANC 13:20 319
(no lay-flats)

I feel your pain becaue I also have back problems. I had to endure the 767 & 757 on UA for LAX-OGG recently. Don't get me wrong, I was VERY grateful to be in F, but the seats were so cramped with so little recline, I can't imagine what it was like for those (with back problems) in coach.

I understand your need for lie flat seats and am ecstatic that I was able to get AA saver awards in F on the 777 for my upcoming LAX-MIA.

Good luck to you!
Now I will have a good time when I get to my destination-- thanks to you. I also travel frequently east coast to west and back again and this will make my life so much easier--again, thanks to your advise and all the other "full bottles" (Aussie term for those in the know). Cheers and see you up there.

Amtrak?
It would be a very long trip, especially since the Sunset Limited no longer operates between Florida and New Orleans. Routing would be via Washington, DC, or New York. A bedroom from Florida to Seattle could be had for 50,000 Amtrak Guest Rewards points (or 50,000 Continental OnePass miles converted to AGR points) if one did not want to pay cash; a roomette would cost 35,000 AGR points. All meals included on board; booze is extra.
