No service in First Class

Yesterday I flew LAX-PHX in F and was appalled that there was no service - nothing.

I asked for a glass of wine after boarding, but was told no pre-departure drinks.

The FA never once stood up during the entire flight. I later asked her for a glass of wine and was told the captain had not turned off the seat belt sign - despite a perfectly smooth flight.

It was truly unbelievable.

Has anyone else experienced something like this with US?

LAX-PHX is not very long but it's that lame service is pretty darn bad. Raise up a ruckus. (I mean it).

Please write US about this. If this FA does not like her job, she needs to find another one.

Almost all my domestic travel is in paid F. In my experience, this is the rule, rather than the exception, on short flights in F on US.

I flew LAX-PHX earlier this week. We had pre-departure drinks, and once in the air, snack basket and more drinks. No complaints here.

Sounds like you got a bad FA who did not like her job and just wanted to get to PHX and get the flight over with,

All shorts hops should have drink service as well as pre departure water.

I'd write about this one for sure.

Unless the plane is bouncing like popcorn in a popper... I've even gotten drinks in F, when they told Y to go punt.

Unacceptable.

Why would anyone pay F on these flights?

Yesterday I flew Asiana in F from PVG-ICN and was served a three-course meal on the one-hour flight.

I was also served five glasses of top-quality champagne and two glasses of a grand Cru Burgundy.

That's why yesterday's US flight was such a shock, especially after the incredible ICN-LAX trip in OZ F.

Do you honestly feel that writing would produce any change in behavior or attitude? Would the front office even care?

Wow. I was supposed to fly on the 0600 LAX-PHX flight yesterday in F. Hope that wasn't your flight!

Lack of a Pre-Departure beverage assuming boarding starts on time is part of the amenities offered to elites who are upgraded and also paid First Class.

This is a Pet Peeve of mine. Holding the customers feet to the fire on EVERY rule or policy and then trying to back peddle and hide behind real and made up policies.

From Early March through June I kept track of Flight Numbers, Boarding times and the number of time there was no pre departure drinks were served.

Once I got to 15 flights, I compiled the information and wrote the executive offices with the information along with a request for a voucher in the amout of $105.00 (15 drinks x $7.00).

Got a follow up call where they tried to backpeddle and I read them the paragraph from the DM rules and I now have the voucher.

You have to crawl up their assets but if enough people do then things change in favor of the customer.

I wouldn't let this rest for even a half second.
