Oooooooof, heard this on the radio after landing in DUB this morning. Morning pints of mourning are being consumed.

This kills me, living in between EWR and PHL. I had so many options in *A to go all over the world, directly. This halves them, and now I have to decide whether to go with OneWorld or defect to UA and stay in *A. Either way, as a 50-75k/yr person primarily on my own dime, I can't afford to split the travel to maintain status.
