Ode to the Philly Baggage Handler
(with apologies to the many GOOD baggage handlers)
Ode to the Philly baggage handler
We watched the Eagles, while you were waiting
we talked about cars and who we were dating
The luggage we tore and the lunch we ate
while you were there sitting at carousel eight
And then one Christmas as all seemed to improve
we stayed at home and your bags did not move
We opened our presents and drank our eggnog
while you slept on the floor, like a homeless dog
But then with fright, we watched what occurred
as passengers fled, even Chairman's preferred
"It's happened", "We're finally in chapter 7"
the news spread like wildfire from Broad Street to Devon
So our jobs are now gone; our checks come from the state
as you fly on Southwest, and are never late
Charlotte is shuttered and Pittsburgh is closed
fly to Raleigh for thousands, 'cause the PAX are hosed
I used to commute down I-95
now over to the Mall is where I drive
To take out the trash and sweep the floor
for 6.65 - without the prospect of more
My advice to United comes from the heart
be there for Christmas or you'll work at Wal-Mart
