From October 25, 2001 through November 16, 2001, receive a 20% mileage bonus for all
(AMEX) Membership Rewards ® points that are transferred to Dividend Miles.

Hmmm...This is slightly worrisome. Since US is paid for Dividend Miles from participating partners, US must be desperate for cash.

No more so than Delta, which is running a similar promotion with AMEX for the second time this year all of a sudden (after running it previously two years prior, they are now running it two months after the previous one) and Continental which is offering 25% bonus on Diners Club transfers.

I think this is a pretty smart way for the airline to offer discounts to generate more "cash flow" ...

Having almost 100,000 AmEx points, I am tempted, but am a little concerned about loosing miles if I transfer them into US, and then something happens. Is anyone else taking advantage of this offer?

Comments pro & con?

Pesonally, I have little concern of loss of miles with US, I'd have no qualms about transferring miles in to US (and will transfer what few AMEX MR points I now have since transferring 100K to DL over the summer for a similar promo).

If TWA miles were OK...US miles will be OK.
