E+ transatlantic

Has E+ been installed on 767s and 777s that fly UA's transatlantic routes?

If so, which one would be preferred?

thanks

I have been on several trans-atlantics lately; SFO-CDG/LAX-LHR multiple times each and they haven't had any E+ on the 777s they fly on those routes.

It is pretty frustrating! MP has me, but if I was border line MRTC sounds great for these legs.

Cheers,
Kevin

All the East Coast (EWR/IAH) transatlantic flights I have been in have had E+.

Edited to add:

Prefer 777s vs 767s (people looking for op-upgrades/bumps may prefer the 767). Better entertainment system, better toilets, etc. Also 777s are faster than 767s.

My point of departure is NYC, and I'm trying to reach MEL. I've narrowed it down to: NYC-IAD-CDG-SIN-MEL (iad-cdg on a 777), but for E+ I'd be willing to do NYC-IAD-MUC-CDG-SIN-MEL (IAD-MUC ON A 767-300).

All 767's on transatlantic routes have E+.

It's a bit more complex for 777's. According to the UA website, 23 out of 55 international 777's have been reconfigured. The reconfigured planes are used on East Coast-Europe routes only, as they do not have the range to serve SFO/LAX nonstop. UA has said it will be reconfiguring the remaining 777's starting this fall, and finishing late 2003.

Unfortunately I can't find the relevant page on the UA website anymore!

Wow, how are you doing the trip going the other way... what airlines are you flying beside UA?

Highflyah, I'm doing a RTW in October. When my last 2 segments from this month's RTW post, I'll be UA Premier, so I'd get E+ on UA. That's why I'd try and use UA as much as possible (as well as 25% bonus). I'll so MEL-SYD-SFO-JFK. From JFK to return home, bypassing LHR, means I'd have to go to either IAD or ORD (i think JFK-ORD-Europe would be too many miles so I'm left with IAD). I'm trying to make my arrival connect to SQ Europe-SIN-MEL. was in FRA twice this month, and I think CDG or ZRH both sound nice and have availability. Only I want to get there on UA for E+ (which means going to MXP, DUS, MUC or BRU if i want to be on a 767, or finding another route on the 777 that would definitely have E+.

UA stopped flying to ZRH in may-1998 (only code-shares via Germany on LH or Denmark with SK).

Unfortunately, flying a 777 to/from the east coast is necessary but not sufficient. For example, UA960 flies from SFO-CDG and returns as UA909 on CDG-IAD. So UA909 is not one of the reconfigured planes.

Rudi, what i meant was CDG or ZRH as my SQ departure point. Of course I would get there via MUC to get E+ on the 763.

Travelling LHR-IAD on 777's, I end up with E+ around 75% of the time - there truly seems to be no way of telling for sure whether the 777 on a particular flight will have E+.

So to be guaranteed of E+ I'd have to fly on a 763 right?

Correct (though a 747-400 (if any are still running transatlantic?) would work if you can live without PTV's in economy).
