Priority security lines
I just flew out of LAX and asked if there was a priority security line for 1P/1K/or F class. A security employee (not UA) told me that there were no longer any priority lines as the TSA had prohibited them. A UA person nearby confirmed this. (But I must admit the line was not bad).

ORD had a Priority Line last week for UA customers...so did Detroit...if they are prohibited, they don't know about it at ORD or DTW!

dcpremex,
DEN still has a priority line but most of the time I fly out of there the line is so short it's not needed. Having spent 30 minutes in the security line at IAD last Friday night I sure wish United would add one there.

My understanding is that separate security checkpoints (screening) are prohibited, but that separate elite/priority lines up to a common screening area are OK.

Airports/airlines are permitted to have F/elite lines for checking boarding passes and ID, but cannot segregate pax at the actual security screening points. Your TSA securitroid was mistaken.

Where they are available, there is a separate line to get to the security area, then everybody shares the same security checkpoints. I believe it was PDX a few weeks ago where they had a big sign with pictures of all the cards you could use to get into that line, then somebody to check for the card. It was the first time in years I'd ever seen anybody actually ask to see the card itself.

I took the priority line at SEA today. Didn't need my 1K card, since my status was indicated on my boarding pass.

In Sacramento (SMF) AA and UA share the same terminal and the crazy line in the morning for the escalator is how they get elite/FC through faster. The normal line will stretch back and around through baggage claim (up to 45 minutes). You get to bypass that line and go straight up the escalator to the checkpoint lines, which only have about 10 people per screener at a time.
