Wow. Well over 1 hour today. The line went up one side of the entire terminal and back down the other.

Even LAX has not been that bad for me. I made it on to the plane as the door was closing.

They really need some sort of combined "elite" line.

They really need some sort of clue there.

auh20: I've found avoiding the 7-9 am window eliminates the wait entirely. It's especially busy on Monday morings (and Tuesdays after a holiday. An hour later will save you two in line!

They really need to MOVE the entire screening area in front of the current screening area and add 3 checkpoints to each side.

This is STILL the most backward airport when it comes to adding screening checkpoints

I wish the airlines would "complain" a little bit more to the county on this.

Go to http://www.ocair.com

Click the email link. I tried to be polite and call the airport on this. They always state "we have no room to expand the checkpoints".

If that is the attitude they take, then it will never get solved.

I experienced a tremendously long security line near the United check-in counters, but no more than a dozen passengers in line down at the other end of the terminal near the American check-in counters.

Apprehensive about auh20's experience, I got to SNA today @ 6:10AM for the 7:45 to SFO. The wonderful SNA RCC concierges also told me yesterday about entering security near gAAte 14 or so and I got through in about 8 minutes. The line closer to the UA gates was somewhat longer. According to The RCC staff, more magnetometers are coming to SNA for summer. Apparently line size also depends on the number of groups travelling. Not too many today.
