ORD-PHX and back on a 767!?!?

Since when does ual offer service ORD-PHX on a 767-300, and how long will it actually last?

I am looking at tickets to PHX in late Feb/early March and it is showing flight #763 to PHX is a 767-300, flight #1664 coming back is also a 767-300. Are these the right planes? If so, how is the first class service on these? What can I expect if I upgrade?

Not sure of this route, but flights from SMF - LAX are sometimes the larger planes --due to repositioning of the aircraft

Could be a domestic 2 class 763, in which case F won't be anything special.

When a 767 does appear on this route, I've never seen anything but a two-class config. I really dislike first class in the two-class config. Would be a pleasant surprise with the int'l configuration, but it just doesn't seem likely (either for maintenance or revenue reasons).

So it sounds like upgrading to first here would be no big deal. That is what I was thinking as I look at the domestic 767-3 configuration on the ual website. 39" of pitch for first class!! that sucks!

Would it be better to try to get the 757 instead of the 767. A little nicer in that there are only 24 people vs. 34 on the 767.

Feb/March ORD-PHX, let's see there is warmer weather in AZ, Cubs spring training in Phx, White Sox in Tucson.

I wouldn't expect to see this go past the major flight changes that take place in April with the time changes.

This happened with PDX in Dec. I was hoping it was going to stick around but I think it was just for loads at the holidays.

Always a two class 767. They used to run this wih a DC10 as well. Generally a full plane in better times. F on those is really pretty cramped.

767-300s do ORD-PHX a few times a year.. sometimes you'll see 3 flights a day to PHX using the 767-300 during it's "season"

United does what it can to predict traffic levels, which is why you'll see 757s and 767s on every route to Florida during certain times of the year, and other times you are stuck on a guppy 737-500.....
