Checking in for two flights at the same time

I'm flying NYC-IAD-FCO in May returning FCO-IAD-NYC on one roundtrip itinerary. My plans changed and I am now returning to ORD from IAD as I need to go to Chicago. So, I will be checked in for the IAD-NYC flight at the same time I need to to be on the IAD-ORD flight (they are about an hour apart from eacother). I thought this would work as I will get my checked bags at IAD customs then get on the flight to ORD. Will UA have any problems with me attempting this? More importantly, will .bomb allow me to check-in for the IAD-ORD flight when I'm already checked in for the IAD-NYC flight? I know this sounds crazy, but it was much cheaper than changing my original itin. Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated!

I recommend removing your mileage plus number from the IAD-ORD flight. This will likely result in a seat in E-, but will make it harder for UA to cross-reference and notice that you're on two flights at once. Lots of people have the same name

Never tried anything similar but I don't foresee any problems. IMO, .bomb will let you check in for both of your flights and you'll just have to skip the last leg of your original itin. Maybe someone with first hand experience can confirm but I think you'd be fine.

Thanks for the advice...very helpful. Would you say it is imperative to remove my MP # from the second itin? I already added it when I booked... can you even remove it after that?
