Statement Arrived
Well I received my second statement by First Class Mail today (May 24). It has the May newletter and covers 12 Mar - 16 Apr. Also contained Confirmed O/W Upgrades and 500 Mile upgrade certs earned in first quarter. Not bad, I was just about to call tomorrow to see what was taking so long.

I too received mine today. Yeah, "finally" about sums it up! HOWEVER, my statement dates were JANUARY 16 through March 16! How did you get your next statement so early SF1K? Makes me wonder why we get a newsletter dated May, and a statement for March.
Oh well, even if it is three months behind, at least I finally got it.

Ever since you guys started complaining so much about UA I've been keeping track of when DL statements come (so I could make fun of UA in at least some ways
) ... I get my DL statements for the previous month (through the last day) around the 22nd or so of the following month, so for instance, I received my statement for April 1 - April 31 on May 22.
Note that DL does not send their statements out First Class mail either (I don't believe, looks like bulk rate pre-sorted or something like that, but I'm not an expert in that area).
You guys should ask UA why they can't be more like DL ... I'm sure that would get their attention

$%&@#$%&%*^$#. Where are my confirmed Q1 upgrades? Where is my letter thanking me for spending more than $5000 in Q1? 60K+ YTD and not even 1 book of upgrade certs.

What is your status Boysmap? Maybe that had something to do with you not receiving a more updated statement. You should feel lucky though to have received a May Newsletter. Although I already knew pretty much everything in it from reading this bulletin board.
auh20 you should definitely call and complain. You should have received your upgrades.

SF1K-
First, thanks for the email and more on that later. Just to clarify, I am a PE member not 1K. I can hardly believe that the difference between PE and 1K makes me get my statements 2-3 months after you.
As for the upgrades, with every statement, (as long as I fly that is) I receive two books, 2000 miles worth, of domestic upgrades! Does little for me here in Japan.
I guess it is time to call.

So you are receiving two sets of 4*500 upgrades as long as you fly at? Because really you should only receive 1 booklet of 4 certs for every 10,000 actual miles flown.

Hooray! Finally received 3 packages of certs owed to me for travel in March and April. They were mailed on April 30 and I received them in a stand alone mailing on May 22. Not bad, actually. Now of course UA owes me another 3 packages for travel thru May 22. Electronic upgrades would be nice!

Nah, you don't want electronic upgrades, Mileking!
With a human factor, at least there is a chance that your upgrade certificates may not be collected. With electronic upgrades, they pretty much go "poof" with 100% accuracy as soon as you make the request to redeem them.

I agree with Kyklin. And electronic upgrades can't be gifted to others as easily.

It's not an either/or proposition folks! Having electronic upgrades doesn't negate the paper if you want to "gift" the upgrade. The electronic version would provide an easier and much quicker way to get your benefits. They would eliminate buying upgrades while you wait, wait, wait for UA to ship the paper stuff. They would be available as quick as the computer systems detect you have flown another 10K miles. They would eliminate buying emergency upgrade certs. for use when you are rushing to catch your plane. And yes, you could have the electronic cert. issued as paper if you want to give it to someone else. Still not interested?
As for the chances of UA not collecting upgrade certs, I'd rather play the lottery

absolutely right Mileking--never had UA fail to pick up the certificates. Conversely, NW often did.

(Premex and UA employees, pleqse don't read what follows):
on inner US/CA/Mexico/PR flights a good friend of mine ALWAYS succeeds by making his reservations with one-way confirmable vouchers at reservation time, and at check-in he gives (only) the necessary amount of 500 mile-vouchers ...

Another good tip from Rudi.
Also, on a recent trip back home PSP-BWI I checked bags at the curb then went to the gate and they never asked me for the upgrade certs. They were pretty busy trying to get the plane boarded.
