"We are phasing those out"
Not a big deal, but just another example of the subtle cuts being made at virtually all levels within UA:
I checked in for a 6:00 flight this morning going SMF - DEN - BWI. When I asked the ticket counter agent for a ticket jacket to hold my boarding documents and luggage claim tag, she said "sorry, we are phasing those out so I don't have any". Like I said, not a huge deal, but certainly the sum of the cuts is greater than the whole in UA's case.
BTW, on both flight the FA were personable, cheerful and helpful. Something I haven't seen much of lately.

A fine idea. Those are a waste of paper. And since they're going to start putting advertising on the boarding passes themselves, there's no need for them on that front either. And by next year, even paper boarding passes will be heading the way of the dodo.

Last time I was at DEN, the TA said that the blue ones were going to be phased out, but they would keep the gold ones (presumably for elites). I personally find them to be a waste of resources -- if they can come up with a clever way of combining the luggage tag with the BP receipt, then we can get rid of those awful sticky tags as well. Then there would be no more need for those BP jackets; since TSA wants to look at the BP every 3 seconds as you go thorough security, the jackets are a nuisance.

Sorry, long day
Sorry, very long day with an early (3:00 AM) wake up call. I should have searched before I posted. Thanks for the quick reply and the correction.
Already being discussed here.
