Thank you for the info!

Lightbulb just a quick note

I know, old thread - but it's the right place for the post.

Just a quick note to say that UA is still doing this. Just made 1K for the first time. Here's a little history - I'm in San Diego.
  • Didn't travel in January 2009 (made PR-Exec for 2009 w/2008's mileage)
  • Feb-Apr: Barcelona, Tokyo, London, London again (all in discounted business), side trip to LAS.
  • 74k EQMs. 1K showed in account May 4th.

Might try to get them to give up a couple SWRs early - gotta be on-track for GS this year at this point.

(oh, and 'Hi' - long-time lurker, first time poster)

Welcome to flyertalk !

The GS threshold might be lower this year with the economy being down and all. Please let us know how it goes

They haven't been offering that until October or November. But then again, who knows what's going on over there now?

In 2008, my boss made 1K around 75k in June'ish... took one more international flight in July and got bumped to GS... so we'll see.

Same thing happened to me last year . . . was shy of 100k EQM, but made 1K in May, and became GS in June.

Note that I had to have my MP # removed and reenetered for all my itineraries made before my status upgrade to reflect my new status. Although people often post that you don't have to do that anymore, that's not my experience. My gf moved up in status about 2 months ago, and the same happened with her. I had to remove/readd her MP # to reflect her new status on itineraries made before the status upgrade.

Can't seem to figure out how to delete/readd MP# online - is there a way to do this? or do I need to call...?

So I've been calling for 3 days now. Found out my 1K status actually processed in this last Sunday night 5/10. So on 5/12 when they deleted/re-added and PR-EXEC still showed up on the reservation, they said call back the next day and the 24-48hrs would have cleared and all would be fine.

On 5/13. Same story.
On 5/14 just now, same story.

They tried to tell me that reservations 'auto-update' with the status change...but then they said it still showed PR-EXEC. Mileage Plus 1k desk says '1k', reservations says '1k', itinerary says PR-EXEC.

last hope is to call tomorrow. Maybe then the '4 day window' referenced in other threads takes hold and it'll actually work... who knows.

Open to any other thoughts anyone else wants to share - otherwise, i'm resigned to PR-EXEC for another international trip, I suspect.

Maybe you got a 'manual' status update that isn't picked up by the automatic batch. (I'm guessing here, but it's not impossible that batches are triggered by automated status changes)

What "1K over 1P" benefits do you want ?

If you're waiting for upgrades, just call reservations and ask them to process your upgrade manually if there is NF/NC space available and you're within the 1K window.

If you're a 1K in UA's system, that will be reflected at the airport (red carpet / checkin). I once did online checkin the night before an early morning flight. The next morning, I found out I had a higher status level. Asked a random UA agent to reprint my BP. It had the new status level on it ^

My travelling companion qualified for 1P while in SYD last weekend. Definitely NO need to remove/reenter the MP number -- the return BP just printed out PR EXEC. In fact, the only way we knew the outbound miles had posted was due to the status upgrade. (Too cheap to pay $27.50 for internet at the hotel just to check MP.)

Quite possible given my 73k miles and 1K status. Puzzled one of the 1K agents I talked to. I just told her my company gives united a ton of revenue and it must have been a local sales manager thing or something (which she bought)

Economy soldout/oversold, First isn't, I'm in a full business cabin and need rank

Good to hear about not having to re-add the MP, regardless. thanks

In 2008, I flew more miles total than my best friend, but she flew biz class international (about 55K) and was awarded 1K. She had no idea what 1K was, no idea what e-upgrades were, and no idea how to even log on to her United account. Meanwhile, I check my MP account every day for changes and lurk here every day to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Life's so unfair...!
