IAD-EZE in C or E+?

I am contemplating a trip next summer to Buenos Aires, and I am weighing whether to book in C or E+. The equipment on this route is a 767, and I am guessing that there is little chance it will be the new cabin; it seems likely those birds will first be deployed on European routes. Is old-style C on an elderly 767 worth the extra miles?

IMO, yes. Old C is very sleepable, and in row 5 you have virtually unlimited legroom with the bulkhead in front of you.
The flight is an overnight, so if you can do better in sleeping your time is much better spend in EZE. EZE is worth having the extra naptime.

I'd spend the miles, YMMV

Best, Dave

IIRC (and I defer to planemechanic for the most accurate answer) the 763's will be the first that will be complete across the board. Now, if that is true, then you would have a decent shot (but not a guarentee).

Furthermore, IMO even if it was the old C on a 763, it is still much better then E+.

Slightly OT, but it is the F on a 763 that is really old.

I guess it depends if cost is an issue. Book C if you can afford it.

For award ticket, go with C if it's available. The 30K extra miles as compare to Y are well worth it. But I would not pay the extra $$$$ to buy a C ticket, nor 60K miles to upgrade with the higher H/M fare.

BTW, I have flown this route 8 times this year so far, all coach tickets (W and below). Used all my 6 SWUs upgraded to C, and one award ticket in C.

Keep in mind EZE is a long flight. And it will seem much longer cooped up in Economy. Do you really want to be flying 10 hours and regretting not sitting in C?

Also factor in spending an additional $600 for an H fare.

I thought the OP was talking about an award, but I guess that's open to interpretation.

Yes, I was thinking about an award; thanks for all of the advice.

C, specifically because both outbound and return are excellent overnight flights where you can get a good 6-8 hours of sleep if you can sleep well on aircraft!

When it comes to flying F or C over Y (either paid, upgrade, or award), smoke 'em if you got 'em. Every time.

Absolutely worth it if you have the miles for the award or upgrade, or the $. I just was on that a couple of months ago, so obviously old cabin.

Just bring a sturdy enough carry-on to prop up the leg rest, in case it's still old C. Pretty good chance of it not staying up by itself.

I really don't mind that old 763 C cabin since it has great pitch and recline.
