Let's stick to toothpaste so we don't gum up the works or this cavity-ridden thread will be put to sleep.

Also, I can understand UA taking preemptive action by removing the Colgate tubes, just in case, but I have not seen any evidence (or admission from UA) that any of the tubes used in the amenity kits actually were tainted. |
Last week (9/25) on UA829 from ORD-HKG there were no tooth brushes or tooth paste in the C kits, but when I mentioned this to the FA (joking about how much money management was saving) she handed out the larger tubes of Colgate (and brushes) to all the upstairs customers. Come on UA, the amenity kits are in grave need of an upgrade.

UA 959 ORD-LHR on Thursday had no dental care stuff in the C kits. In the lav was a bunch of individually wrapped toothbrushes and one large tube of Colgate.
Can diseases be transmitted by sharing toothpaste? Surely some toothbrushes must touch the cap of the toothpaste tube? http://www.ada.org/prof/resources/po...toothbrush.asp says this about sharing toothbrushes: Do not share toothbrushes. Sharing a toothbrush could result in an exchange of body fluids and/or microorganisms between the users of the toothbrush, placing the individuals involved at an increased risk for infections. This practice could be a particular concern for persons with compromised immune systems or existing infectious diseases. |
on 934 LAX LHR last Sunday no toothbrush but a little sachet of toothpaste in my seat companion's kit but none in mine. In the lavatories a basket or toothbrushes and small tubes of unbranded Crest-like paste. The toothbrushes were so flimsy that the handles bent when one used them and there were none of those neat little caps that we used to get (I tend to save them for "real" toothbrushes at home). Really these kits are hardly worth bothering with. The only worthwhile thing is the mask and we all have plenty of those I guess.

As if size matters:rolleyes:
Thanks. |
I always travel with a partially used 8-oz toothpaste, and have never had any problem.

Good on you, but I truly lost one such, was told and have read - both on these boards and in a recent article somewhere - that it's the capacity and not the actual amount.
On the other hand, the last three - three - flights, I forgot my plastic bag in my rollaboard, and didn't have to go around or dance. Nothing said. I dunno, they must have imputed good faith if not good sense. This was at MHT, LAX and OAK. |

UA 929 LHR-ORD this morning had individual toothpaste & toothbrush in the C kit.
|
I was on UA 927 FRA-SFO the other day and the amenity kit had a little tube of Colgate -- made in China, with a seal with Chinese characters on it.

Other day ORD-FRA and no toothpaste/brush in the C kits... They might as well hand out the items to the pax, cause the bag is really empty.
|
Had toothbrush and toothpaste in the kits on IAD-AMS but not on the return.
