What is actual size? Less than or equal to 3 ounces???

The larger one that I have is 1 oz, the smaller one is 5/16 oz.

I got the new tubes back in January for SYD-LAX. Presumed it was in response to liquid ban.

Still annoying that having stuffed the amenity kit in my hand luggage I have to remember to pull out the toothpaste to go through security for domestic connections.

On LAX-LHR today I got the enhanced micro Colgate toothpaste tube. Was looking forward to the bigger sized Rembrand...

They could just take the same approach that VS does in UC: leave a basket of toothbrushes and toothpaste for all to take

SQ does the same, but their toothpaste/toothbrush combo is in a slim plastic tube which is sealed.

I have always assumed that all the little goodies in the kit were provided to UA free to promote the brands. That is why, I have assumed, the brands keep changing. Presumably if the promotion doesn't result in enhanced sales the freebies stop. Does anyone know whether this is correct?

UA940 ORD -FRA 2/24/07 purple bag with small tube of Rembrandt

I'll be sure to check that out on Sunday when I take my first SQ flight!^

Nice to hear about new color bags and bigger toothpaste tubes. Now I can expand my collection!:D ^

The mix color of amenity kit had actually been around for more than 6 months, but kind of curious how many color does it really have ?

actually, to open the tube, just take off the plastic cap, reverse it, and push it back on--the top has a sharp pointy insert that pierces the seal. :)

The small tubes have this. The big ones don't. However, the caps are interchangable.

The big ones have a small tab on the seal that lifts up and pulls the whole thing off. It's on the center of the seal, not off to one side. I confess that after jetleg, sleep deprivation, and a couple glasses of wine, it's not the easiest to get off. My new routine is to remove it at my seat, where I can use the reading light to see what I am doing.

I agree. The little tab in the middle is nearly impossible to grab without longer finger nails or tools.

LAX-LHR March 9 was the new, large Rembrandt. You must have been unlucky...

Actually the new big tubes do not have a pointy thing in the cap. I brought the toothpaste to the FA because I couldn't get the seal open and she poked a hole in the top with one of those drink stirrer straws.

In dozens of domestic re-entries since last summer where I never even opened the amenity kits from my international flights (plus several thru LHR flight connections) & just stuffed the kit in my hand luggage, I have never once had even the slightest problem with this. Don't sweat it.

Oh the irony. They give you something you're not allowed to bring on board. At LHR especially.
