Poor Compensation
I'm currently a 1P who recently wrote UA a complaint letter with the following main complaints regarding a recent itinerary:
1. Downgraded from Y+ to Y- on one flight even though I had pre-booked the seat in Y+.
2. No RCC access granted on return journey even though I was entitled (*A Gold)
3. Personal TV did not work on both international sectors.
4. Elite check-in queue on return journey not staffed so had to use main security queue.
My response was a bunch of form letter style apologies and 10,000 miles. I really don't think that 10k is worth much of anything to me. I don't want to be petty but this trip really was full of problems and I'd really prefer something better along with a sincere response. What do you think these complaints are worth in terms of compensation?

compensation
10,000 miles is more than fair compensation for what amount to very minor problems. You should also change your status in your FT profile.

Your list / My Opinion
#1 - while it s*cks, Y is still Y that is not a "downgrade" just a really bad seat assignment. Why'd that happen, how'd you find out, etc No other open seats available?
#2 - that should have been sent as a complaint to RCC, probably separately - you don't say why/who/how you were denied access but I've never had a problem like that.
#3 - this is the only one where you'd be due something. Were there no other seats available for you to move to?
#4 - there is no guarantee that the elite lines will be available, sorry you had to mix with the masses
btw, that's an airport not airline complaint
For different reasons than the previous post, I think the 10K was fair.

Without getting into suggestions of how you might have prevented #1 and questions that could raise doubt about #2, I agree with the previous posts. 10K miles seems about right.

Ok, fair enough. I'll probably come to my senses when I cool down and the journey is a few days past me.

(1) Being able to sit in Y+ is a benefit offered to 1Ps; if the OP had originally booked that, I can see his frustration and certainly some type of compensation is due.
OP: In the future, print out your itin from UA's website -- that way you can show the GA or whomever that you did, indeed, have a Y+ assignment.
(2) Again, being *G allows one certain travel benefits -- and the fact that his credentials provide for entry into the RCC and it was denied...that's not right.
(3) No PTV on int'l flights? That sucks. Look at united.com and their description of int'l service -- it says they provide video. If you're on a plane with a PTV and it breaks, you get NO video.

I'm not saying the OP is owed 2 SWUs or $1,000 in travel credits...but you cannot do ANYTHING with 10,000 miles. Not even a domestic upgrade. Which, IMHO, would have been appropriate...15,000 miles.
