checking baggage through LHR

I'm planning on flying United SFO-LHR and then taking a Turkish Airlines flight (separate PNR) LHR-IST 3 hours later. Will United check my baggage through?

Not 100% sure but they should check it through with any IATA carriers
except the ones that explicitely prohibit it (such as BD on split tickets) or
where government regulations ban it.
I had US-LHR-EU connections in split tickets several times (on BA,LX, and
LH) and it never was an issue in either direction.
Do not see why they would not do it for TK either.

Got back from the trip and the interlined baggage got through perfectly. I just showed UA a printout of my TK itinerary during checkin, and they took care of it.
