Also, keep in mind that hold won't work in some situations with some fare rules. Some rules require immediate ticketing and others have a very small window in which a reservation can be held (less than what book and hold allows). Also, if you are buying an advance purchase ticket and holding the reservation puts you outside the advance purchase window it won't come up as an option.

For instance, if you are trying to hold a 14 day advance purchase fare 14 days out it won't work (since you would be able to purchase the ticket 13 days out).

Any recent problems with book and hold? It's gone for me right now.

One minor irregularity is that I'm using multi-city to get a 1-stop direct flight booked as a connection instead. Don't think that's an issue, though, blc I've held multi-city reservations before.

How's it working for you?

Tried it, and can't get a W fare, BOS-LAX, to show it on the "Create Itinerary: Review" screen... Only see 'continue' What am I doing wrong?

Can't see the Avalibility either? - Am I missing the expert mode?

My wife discovered it last week

and used same, with no problem.

Another suggestion: I wouldn't be surprised if UA puts a cookie on your computer when you're looking at an itinerary and then keeps you from going back to it at a later date. The other online bookers (Expedia, Travelocity, etc.) are notorious for this, that's why one day you see a great fare, the next day when you go back to look for it you can't find it. The cookie tells the site not to show it to you again. Answer - blow out your cookies, which is something I routinely do every day (for all kinds of reasons). Then when you come back "fresh" the website shows you the great fare again.

Silly way to do business.

Are all of your UA segments on UA metal? if not, it could be that. Also, if you book it late at night when they are updating fares, the hold feature is usually unavailable.
