INC-JFK mileage question

INC-JFK mileage question
I flew INC-NRT-JFK and UAL posted 6,909 miles... but route was INC-NRT-JFK. Am pretty sure NRT alone is 6,745... so why the apparent 'as the crow flies' mileage rather than the actual mileage?
