LAS Security Lines Priority

I have read several post in the last month that said 1K's and UGS's could request that they receive a FC stamp on their tickets and go through the FC security line at LAS if they were flying TED. I also read that someone took away UA's stamps? I am about to be TEDDED in LAS. Which is it?

No go

I fly out of LAS weekly and am both 1K and UGS - no go for a FC stamp as the TSA has forbidden UA from stamping tickets any longer and has threatened to fine them if they stamp anything other than a FC ticket - which TSA knows is impossible as LAS is an all TED location with no FC seats to speak of.

It is a real bummer when there is a 1 hour security line and the FC security line is empty.

I see no solution to this problem, given TSA's involvment.

McCarren has flip flopped on the stamps for 1Ks and UGS in the last several weeks. My last flight they did not allow anyone to be stamped who is not in first. So, no UAL flights qualify for the priority line.

Was it ever decided that if you were connecting to a mainline flight in F that you could get the stamp, since technically your whole itinerary is in F booking? If someone is going to LAX or SFO to take a transpac flight in paid F are they still required to go though the lines?

When are the LAS airport improvements supposed to be finished so that we can supposedly cut the TSA lineup wait time (ok, maybe I'm being a bit optimistic here)? I'm planning to attend a trade show towards the end of this October, and this will have direct bearing on which airline I choose to fly with.

So did they many any difference? Or did they make an otherwise miserable experience semi-miserable?

It has been bearable for the last several months. I have not waited more than 10 minutes in months. I fly Sunday nites or Monday mornings out of LAS nearly every week.

It wouldn't be so bad if there was a lounge I could visit on the other side of the security checkpoint!

Are the new security lines improving the situation? I will be flying out of LAS next Monday of the 3 day weekend on a mid morning flight. Any recommendations on when we should get to the airport?

90 mins is safe

As ridiculous as this sounds, given that the majority of flights from LAS on United are an hour or less, you are best to get to the airport 90 mins prior to your departure.

I fly out of LAS weekly on United and on busy holiday/convention/Sundays, the TSA security line can be upwards of 45 mins. Add to that the 5 min tram, and 5 min walk to the gate and you are getting pretty close to the 30 min boarding time. Remember, no First Class, means no preboarding and there are A LOT of Zone 1 passengers and limited overhead bin storage.

Good luck!

Thanks for you advice...and it sounds like they use the zone system for boarding TED flights?
