e+ sold out thread

If there is not a thread already on this, well lets start one.
I am looking at lots of flights coming up, soo many flights are sold out in E+ ALREADY! this is just insane now, and I thought the upgrade lsists were bad.

If you are looking at seat maps on UA.com, that doesn't mean much. More likely is that UA is blocking a lot more E+ seats in advance of the new MP policy to avoid the unpleasantness of shifting people who selected E+ back to E- when they don't qualify.

Nah... the OP is right, E+ just happens to be completely full on that flight. UA does not block any E+ seats on 757's.

Perhaps, but the seat map for ORD-DEN, flight 909 on 12/2/11 is also showing full in E+ despite plenty of seats available in E-. Maybe there are a TON of elites headed to DEN on that particular day?

When will 2Ps no longer be able to select E+ at time of purchase? January 1?

Is F already full? There's always the possibility of people being upgraded out of E+ into F. People might also change flights, etc..

I neurotically check ELR/E+ seat maps starting at 120 hours on UA or around 5 days on CO to try to jump into seats that open up when upgrades happen.

I can't say that this is all that uncommon. There have been multiple instances in the past where I'd have wanted to take a particular flight for time reasons and can't because the flight is sold out (in both Y and F).

Hey, it happens, some flights just sell out.

I was gonna have to sit in 38F (!!!) on yesterday's UA 552 SFO-DEN until my CR1 dropped...! I bought the ticket a month ago.

United is filling planes, don't get it twisted...

I started a thread on this very topic last year. Once they started selling E+ at any time rather than just at check in, I think a lot of people started buying it. It stinks for us elites. But UA is making more money. Still stinks for us.

Now the harder question, E+ middle or E- aisle?

Weird. E+ shows completely full but there are still T fares (cheap!) for this flight:

[KVS Availability Tool 6.7.0/Diamond - Sabre: Availability/FS/US]
Code:
DCA Washington Ronald Reagan National DC US [KDCA]
DEN Denver Intl CO US [KDEN]
FRI 02 Dec 2011

Carrier Flight From Depart To Arrive A/C St Availability
--------- ------ ---- -------- ---- -------- --- -- -----------------------------------------------------------
UA 815 DCA 17:22 DEN 19:35 752 F9 A9 Y9 B9 M9 E9 U9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 S9 T8 L0 K0 G0
On the other side of the coin, there are plenty of F seats available, which could like be gobbled up by elites via UDU:

[KVS Availability Tool 6.7.0/Diamond - Amadeus Seat Map: 02 Dec 2011/UA 815/DCA-DEN/752/F-First]
Code:
     A B | E F
 1 + + + +
 2 + - - -
 3 + - + +
 4 + - + +
 5 + + + +
 6 + + - -

Why is that weird? There's still lots of E- available.
