Fortunately I had my phone on sleep mode as i got an overnight call to tell me my SFO LHR flight in two days time will be on time, preceded by a statement that it's a flight change notification. Emotions ran from fear of wrong day booking to hope of upgrade.

They've called me every single day for the last three days for the same thing. Flight change notification - my flight is going on time. All I want to know is if my upgrade has cleared or not.

Can't wait til I get to London and they start calling me internationally with the same nonsense about my return on Monday.

Seriously, how do we shut this off but still get a call when something does go wrong?

same thing for me - got an email and a text for both of my flights on Friday about a revision to the schedule....and yet everything is the same as originally scheduled?

As anyone called UA to report this?

I've called twice.. Once yesterday morning after a 7:45am call about a flight Friday afternoon telling me it would be leaving on time. Called them again this morning after receiving a call overnight at 1:15am again telling me that my flight will be on time.

If more people call they may get their technical people to fix this.

Got an easyupdate call on Tuesday 15 hours in advance of my 1:23pm flight. Thanks for telling me it would be leaving on time.

I mentioned it to an excellent rep from the ORD 1K Desk. She said that I'm the first person who has mentioned anything, but that she would forward on the problem to the tech team.....

I've had the same thing too - so long as I make it onto the plane and the original boarding pass accepted, then no problem. From experience they hold your original seat, though it is reasonable for them to give it to someone on standby close to door closing time.

I'm curious about MilesAhead's question, too. If they do give away your seat to a standby pax, is it an IDB? S*UAL/DENIED-IDB suggests that it is:

- IF THE JETBRIDGE IS STILL UP BUT THE CONNECTION IS NOT ALLOWED TO BOARD *EITHER BECAUSE THE FLIGHT IS IN A DB SITUATION OR THEIR SEATS HAVE BEEN GIVEN AWAY AND THE FLIGHT IS FULL OR A LOCAL DECISION IS MADE THA IT IS TOO CLOSE TO DEPARTURE TO BOARD CONNECTIONS* THIS CONNECTION IS A DB AND SHOULD BE COMPENSATED ACCORDINGLY.
But I could also see them saying that you lose the original reservation when they reroute you. Anyone have experience with this?

Seems like EasyUpdate has been going a bit nuts the last couple of days. I've had 3 emails in the last 2 days alerting me that the time for my flight on Friday has been revised from 6:20pm to 6:20pm. Awesome. Glad I changed the settings so it doesn't call home. My wife would've been royally PO'ed to get a call about a flight time change at 2:30am this morning!

Got an ezupdate text at 4:48 this morning telling me that my 6:05 am flight on Saturday, two days hence, was still on time. I'm on the road right now and hate to turn my phone off at night. Blergh.

spgaston Sep 1, 2011 6:58 pm

OK so in your EasyUpdate settings you can set "Quiet Times" for your notifications and they will not deliver in the middle of the night.

flavorflav Sep 1, 2011 11:40 pm

But here's the thing: I -want- ezupdate to call me at 4:48 a.m. if I have a problem with a flight in a few hours. I have no beef with a call in the middle of the night telling me my 8 a.m. flight has been cancelled. I do have a beef with clearly spurious calls about flights 48+ hours down the road.

I've gotten so many calls on departure/arrival info but none about my cleared upgrades. I just had one that cleared 2 days ago but only saw it on line.
