Problem with UA website?

For the last 36 hours, I have been trying to view some JFK-NRT itineraries (I can price them on Expedia but I want to look at seat availbility before booking).

If I log in with my MP number and select Shop for Flights, I get the dreaded "The page cannot be found" message.

If I don't log in and try to get the itinerary to come up from the general site, I get:

No Qualifying Flights
The system is unable to build your itinerary with the information provided. Here are some things you can try:
Choose larger cities
Select another city near your destination that may have a larger airport.
Break your trip into multiple segments
Go to the multi-city air search page to rebuild your itinerary using several legs.
Please, go back and try again.

I don't fly UA very often. Are they trying to drive customers away on purpose? Is anyone else having this problem?

Did you call their customer support? They should be ableto help you with a problem like this, I'd imagine.

"Problem with UA website?"

Hahahahaha. The lousy design and un-functionality of the website is the main problem, not just the daily snafus, such as the one you're describing, that occur. (I'm completely understating my displeasure)

From home I can *NEVER* access their web site at all ... DNS time out or so. Everything else - other airline sites work fine. Indeed UA's is the only major website I've encountered where this happens.

Guess I'll have to call customer support ... I hate having to do the stuff the hard way!

Have you tried deleting temporary Internet files?

For the past three days I was unable to view my mileage summary. I phoned web support and they wanted me to delete all of the cookies on my machine, not just the UAL ones. I said no. So then they wanted me to delete my temporary Internet files and it worked! I can now view the mileage summary page.

Remember when you used to call tech support (in any company) and the first thing they would suggest is to reboot your machine? It was always just a way to get rid of you. Well, the "delete all of your cookies" is the new way to get rid of you.
