United OnePass sounds good to me too... Continental + United FF = OnePass (kind of like how the original OnePass program covered CO + EA). Combine the best of both worlds:

- UA GS/1K program, including call center, etc
- UA redemption on hotels/cars
- CO routing rules on most reward series
- CO shorter OP # letter/number combination that is easier to remember
- CO OP miles that never expire
- CO arrangement with AmEx MR transfer
- CO's US-based call centers for 'everyone else'
- CO auto-upgrades on Y/B/M (for Plat/1K)
- UA CR-1s
- UA's SWU program, but with CO's unrestricted SWU
- UDU/EUA programs are already congruent
- UA's proactive Elite-first approach during irregular operations

- NO STARNET BLOCKING (CO)

It could be an industry-leading program...

Sadly, I think even CO's regular "no status" line is better than UA's GS line (and I've used both a fair bit flying CO for a long while as a NW plat where we got regular CS agents when calling in). Phone service is not something UA does well. On the ground though, I think on balance UA people are great, esp at IRR ops.

Aside from *net blocking, the rest of the FF program advantages definitely go to UA though... so "Mileage Plus" sounds just fine.

MileagePius

for those among us who believe that it will keep offering 6+ SWU pro anno, E+, and a StarNet and ICC-free environment.

I was thinking CALited. But it's probably a bad name for anything associated with an airline.

If it's anything like the changes to NWA's program, the one true name should be:

B O H I C A

Keep FFP partners of both programs as well as these benefits:

About half the threads in here seem to address the question. Oh wait, you meant the name didn't you?

I think Mileage Pass with a space between the words looks good.

So long as they implement the positive aspects of both companies into the new program, I will be very happy.

I hope the people who will be putting together the new program look at this board and research what the customers want who put the money in the airlines pockets. I have no idea what the statistics are, but I am sure that the top 10-15% of the UA and CO FF's are by far their most profitable customers. Many of them populate these boards.

I am cautiously optimistic about the merger. I have alternatives with AA and DL out there, but I have stuck with UA and hope that the "new" UA is even better.

CO Logo Livery and FF Program

Based on the announcement today that "new United" will use CO livery and logo, I'm wondering if my guess that the FF program could be United OnePass is more likely than not. So far this merged airline looks more like CO with a new United nameplate. CO CEO, CO logo, CO livery.

I know this is the United forum, and so people are "United" optimistic, but keep in mind that the only thing really announced to stay from United is the name. Everything else - Mileage Plus, E+, SWU's, could go away. Remember, that the CO boss will be running the show. No one will know for sure until the details are actually worked out, but it is a good sign that USA Today reports that United shareholders will own 55% of the new airline, and I am therefore hopeful Mileage Plus will live on in name and function!
